Heywood Irish Centre completed a District League and Barlow Cup double on Tuesday night beating Newsome 3-2
Nathan Eastwood scored twice to make it 40 goals for the season as division 1 leaders Heywood Irish Centre won 5-1 at home to Holmbridge. Thomas Mellor, Kieron Mayall and Stephen Greer also scored for Heywood’s.
Heywood Irish Centre remain on target for a league and cup double after a thumping victory in Division 1 and a 3-2 victory over Netherton to reach the final of the Barlow Cup.
Heywood Irish Centre extended their lead at the top of division 1 to 7 points after thrashing Shepley 7-0 with goals from Kieron Mayall (two), Nathan Mayall (two), Nathan Eastwood (two) and Jez Robinson.
Newsome narrowed the gap at the top of division 1 to 4 points after a 3-1 win against neighbours Berry Brow. Doran Jordan and a brace from Kyle Walton for Newsome and Joe Brennan for Berry Brow.
Kieron Mayall scored in the 1-0 win against Linthwaite Athletic, which kept Heywood Irish centre top of division 1. Newsome remain second 4 points back but with 3 games in hand.
Newsome moved to within a point of division 1 leaders Heywood Irish Centre following goals from Doran Jordan and Steven Marshall in a 2-0 win at Shepley.
Despite the appalling weather there weren’t many games postponed due to the hard work of the clubs in getting their fields passed fit for play.

The District League programme resumed after the Christmas and New Year break, but it was decimated by the wet weather.
Heywood Irish Centre took advantage of leaders Newsome inactivity by moving into top spot in division 1 after a hard fought 1-0 win away at Berry Brow with Matthew Colcombe scoring the winner.

Berry Brow moved up to fourth in division 1 after goals from Joe Brennan, Luke Gibson (two), Jamal Bent and Thomas Oakes in their 5-1 win over Slaithwaite United. Ashley Beardsall scoring the consolation for Slowit.
Another week of awful weather wiped out the entire District League fixture programme.
Robertshaw still the Big Cheese at 37!
At 37 years old, Adam Robertshaw is still the Big Cheese at Netherton as they moved up to second in division 2 following a 3-1 win at Almondbury Woolpack.
Kirkburton sprang one of the shocks of the day by knocking Berry Brow out of the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup 3-1 with a goal from Troy Toulcher and a brace from Jack Goring. Wayne Shooter scored a consolation for the Brow.

District League Report December 4th
Once again the weather decimated the fixture programme and very few games were played.
In division 2 Netherton made good use of their sloping pitch to beat Lepton Highlanders 7-1.
In the Barlow Cup Berry Brow with goals from Wayne Shooter (two), Luke Gibson, Joe Brennan and Thomas Oakes (two) beat Shelley 6-2. Shelley’s goals were scored by Chris Parker.

The wintry weather almost wiped out the cup and league fixtures but there were a couple of clubs that managed to get their games on.

Newsome stay top of division 1 as second placed Holmbridge dropped points in a 0-0 draw away at Diggle.
Newsome remain undefeated and top of division 1 after hard fought 3-2 win over Holmbridge. Doran Jordan and Kyle Walton (two) were on target for Newsome and Max Morley hit both for Holmbridge.
In the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup Heywood Irish Centre opened their campaign with a resounding 4-0 win over AFC Lindley with goals from Nathan Eastwood (two), Mathew Colcombe and Kieron Mayall.

In the Huddersfield FA Challenge Cup Phil Rigby and Dylan Brett (two) scored as Brook Motors lost 9-3 at home to Heywood Irish Centre.
Newsome kept top spot in division 1 with an emphatic 10-2 win over bottom club Shelley.
Holmbridge slipped down to third in division 1 losing at home to Heywood Irish Centre 4-3. Goals for Holmbridge came from Seb Allen, Max Morley and Sam Hobson. Goals for Heywood came from Jordan Elvidge, Kieran Mayall and Damien Murray (two).
Marsh United have tendered the resignation of their Reserve Division two side.
Newsome went clear at the top of division one with a comfortable 4-0 win over Linthwaite Athletic with goals from Todd Calvert, Kyle Walton (two) and Josimar Bradshaw.
