NDSFL - MATCH DAY 16 REPORT (December 15th 2024)

The final round up of 2024 saw lots of closely contested games go right to the wire as the conclusion of the year sees Grendon pull away in League Three while the other 4 divisions remain wide open.

Ambleside go into the break top of the pack in ANCHOR INN (HARTSHILL) RPEMIER LEAGUE after Vinny Glaznieks scored the only goal of the game late on to secure them a 1-0 win over a resilient Hearty Goodfellow who might feel they could have come away with a point.

Witherley United go in 2nd, 5 points behind the leaders but with 2 games in hand as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Wykin Social. Jenson Corbett, Brad Jenkins and Adam Woods scored the goals for Witherley while Jordan Hemsley, Jes Adcock and Maverick Martin were on target for Wykin.

Drayton and Haunchwood Sports would also share the spoils as goals from Simon Short and Alfie Knight for Drayton and Ben Collins and Tom Southwell for Haunchwood saw the game end 2-2.

Drayton Reserves now sit unbeaten at the top of TRIPLE R PAINTWORX LTD LEAGUE ONE. They travelled to Athletico Duke with 4 goals from Lewis Commins and a hat trick from Lewis Collins saw them leave with a 7-3 win. Jake Norman scored 2 and Braydon York the other for The Duke who sit 3rd.

Conor Beasley, James Graham and Adam Hearn scored the goals for Barwell Cricketers as they hosted Griff and Coton Manor. Goals from Ben Covill, Badru Rajab and Ryan Skidmore ensured the visitors left with a point as the game finished 3-3.

With MARK BLAIR FINANCE LEAGUE TWO leaders Newdigate United not in action, Travs had the opportunity to leapfrog them and see the year out as league leaders. They were made to work hard for it by Red Lion Barwell but an inspiring halftime substitution saw Joe Miles introduced who went on to score all 4 goals in an eventual 4-2 win. Red Lion twice lead first through Riley Poxon and later Luke Newton but Travs were able to capitalise on mistakes and top the table at Christmas.

Kyle Crawford scored 2 for White Horse Atherstone to take his season tally to 26 as they edged out Royal Oak Hartshill 3-2. Jordan Coles scored the other White Horse goal to take his own tally to 13. White Horse remain firmly on the tails of the top 2 with some important games to play in the new year.

Harry Bartram and Kye Wilson scored the Royal Oak goals who sit 5th.
Ambleside Reserves picked up a very good win over 4th placed Conny United as 2 goals for Jordan Forrest-Holden and singles for Lee Wilkins and Brad Steptoe saw them pick up a 4-2 win. That result sees them end the year with back to back wins. Connor Wainwright and Mal Boyce scored the Conny goals who remain comfortably in 4th place.

With Top 2 Grendon and Chetwynd Chess not in action in NUNEATON TROPHIES LEAGUE THREE, someone had the chance to close the gap as 3rd place Bedworth Bank took on 4th placed SS Bulls Head and it would be Bulls Head who would capitalise as 2 goals each for Jarrod Stone and Alex Lane backed up by singles from Daniel Poulter and Josh Atkinson saw them claim a 6-4 win.

Kai Messenger scored 2 for Bank with Zak Bhara and Elliot Harris adding the others. Bank remain in third place but only on goal difference.

Crows Nest Sports are in good form at the moment as they extended their unbeaten run to 3 games in a 2-2 draw with Hearty Goodfellow Reserves. Gareth Orr and Adrian Talbot scoring for Hearty and the Crows Nest goals coming from Jack Riggs and Callum Reader. The two sides are level on points in 5th and 6th, Hearty above on goal difference.

Alex Taylor scored 2 for Horseshoes as they pulled away from the foot of the table thanks to a 6-2 win over Sunnyside Inn. Joe Brown, Lewis Davis, Matt Wyant and Rhys Harris completed the scoring for Horseshoes. Jagtar Mander scored both goals for Sunnyside.

The high flying youngsters Bedworth Eagles eased past FC Burbage to make sure they end their first year in men’s football at the top of RICHARD DUNN LEAGUE FOUR. Sam Harris celebrated his 19th birthday earlier this week and he capped the celebrations with a hat trick to take his tally to 11. Axel Edie, Reece Hoban, Junior Donnelly and Jamie McNamara saw the Eagles return to Bedworth with a 7-2 win.

Jacob Wright and Leon Hallam scored the Burbage sides goals who themselves have had a solid start to life in the NDSFL.

Veteran striker Doug Philpot was rolling back the years again for Lord Nelson as they held in form Lamb and Flag to a 2-2 draw thanks to his brace. George Simmons scored a brace of his own for Lamb and Flag to take his season total to 10. The draw sees Lamb and Flag slip to 2nd place, Lord Nelson sit 6th.

Liam Randle scored 2 with Mitchell Harris and Josh Hood adding singles to see Ex-Servicemen Bedworth Reserves beat Sunnyside United 4-1. The Servicemen have had a strong end to the year, taking 10 points from their last 6 games. Daniel Good scored the Sunnyside goal.

In the clash of the Attleborough sides Royal Oak met Sports where a Royal Oak win would see them firmly on the tails of the top 2 however it would be Sports who were take the 3 points from this one thanks to a debut brace from Chey Tirabasso. Matty French also scored a brace as the game ended 4-2. Alex Lock scored both Royal Oak goals. They remain 3rd. Sports climb to 8th.

Credit must go to Grendon who have won all 11 games in LEAGUE THREE so far this season, only conceding 5 goals in doing so. They are now 11 points clear at the top. Well done to all involved.
