Once again, rain falls Friday night, Saturday morning.
Once more the weather won out, wiping out hours of groundsmen?s work to get pitches ready for the weekend, with torrential rain overnight, leaving 7 games played out of a possible 15. The total number of games postponed on the day of the match moves up to 97.
Kirby Muxloe were the highest placed club to play, winning 1-6 at St Andrews, who had moved up to 8th spot on the back of 2 successive wins, in which they had scored 14 goals with just 1 against. Kirby led 0-2 at half time and progressed to their 7th away win, which moved them up to 5th place, after goals from Paul French, John Grady, Marc Aston (P), Jamie Mason, Marc Schulz(P) and an Og were put on the score board. Alex Johnson netted the reply for the Andrews.
Bardon Hill slipped up at home when Rich Phillips, attempting to clear his lines blasted the ball into the top of his own net to give Ellistown a 1-2 away win, their 1st points in 3 starts. The teams had been tied 1-1 at half time after Martin Staley for Bardon and Lee Shepherd for Ellistown had found the net.
A second half penalty, converted by Graham Keast, gave Holwell Sports a 0-1 away win at Blaby and Whetstone Athletic to consolidate their mid table placing.
Aylestone Park moved out of the bottom 3, and exchanged places with their opponents, Highfield Rangers, when they posted their 1st home win of the season with a 3-1 defeat of the Rangers. The Parks hit a 2nd half purple patch and netted 3 within 10 minutes, through Roger Holmes-2 and Nick Loach, to lead 3-0 after a hour, Danny Nelson getting a last minute consolation for the Rangers.
