Capel Plough Reserves beat E.ON Reserves on penalties to claim the cup of this seasons Signs Express Reserve Cup Final.
The Reserve Cup Final this year took place at Whitton United FC on their main pitch. With a crowd of about 60, the match started with referee Julian Gibbons in the middle of the pitch.
In the first half of the game E.ON were the stronger side with a number of waves of attack at the Capel goal, but no goals were forthcoming.
In the second half the tables turned and Capel had some good phases of play, both teams managed to rattle the woodwork a number of times, but it wasn't until the later stages of the game that the deadlock was broken and Capel scored at 12.26 (in to extra time). Then within two minutes E.ON made a break and levelled the score at 1-1. The second period of extra time passed and still no further goals and so penalty kicks had to be taken.
It was the Capel goalkeeper that managed to make the save that made Capel Plough Reserves winners of the Signs Express Reserve Cup.
Thanks go to the staff at Whitton United FC for hosting the final and congratulations to both teams for reaching the final and making it an enjoyable match for all to watch.
