NAPIT Sunday League Summary

FC Britannia confirmed their place at the top of the NAPIT SUNDAY LEAGUE by just edging out opponents Killamarsh Juniors Athletic on Sunday. There was very little to choose between the two sides throughout the ninety minutes but a Nathan Whitehead goal for Britannia eventually clinched the victory. Second placed Hasland’s encounter with Doe Lea Villa was not a close game however as the hosts stormed to a 9-2 victory with Lee Clay and Ant Lynam terrorising the Villa defence, blasting four and three goals respectively passed Villa’s hapless rear-guard, Ben Goodwin also weighed in with a couple of goals. Creswell Seniors title aspirations continued with a 5-2 win at Brampton Rovers which saw them complete a league double over Rovers to boot.

Renishaw MW remain at the head of NAPIT TWO following a 4-1 win over Charlies Bar Clay Cross on a day when the top three all won. Stuart Grainger was Renishaw’s talisman, scoring two of the winning goals, Barry Allbury and Mark Riley scoring the other two. Second placed Killamarsh Juniors success came at the expense of Chesterfield Town. The 4-2 win was particularly memorable for Juniors Nick Fraser who’s two goals were his first in the NAPIT LEAGUE. Liam Edge was also on the score sheet registering his twentieth goal of the season, Ryan Hardman’s long range effort completing the victors tally. Clowne Wanderers were 3-1 up and cruising against Oxcroft MW at the break but Oxcroft fought back bravely before eventually losing 5-3, Ben Carless scoring twice for Wanderers.

In NAPIT THREE Walton’s title charge continued unabated with a 5-1 win at Laburnum, Mason, Spencer, Bettany, Lytham’s goals plus an own goal earning them the win. Second placed Silver Birches hopes of catching Walton were dented as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wingerworth Barley Mow, Gilson scoring for WBM, Smith for Birches. West Killamarsh moved from the foot of the table and were replaced by Creswell Black Diamond whom they beat 3-1, Woodhead, Bradley and Billson hitting the winning goals.

Woodside opened up a six point gap at the top of FOUR as they cruised past Pilsley 7-1 whilst second placed Double Top lost 3-1 at Dronfield Woodhouse. On target in the leaders win were Ben Sissons who grabbed himself a hat trick, Luke Strong, Adam Woodhouse, Adam Fareham and Adam Norris whilst the Woodhouse match winners were Matt Stanton, Scott Austin and Josh Sears. Lowgates SC were also winners, beating Red Lion 3-1.

Midland Hotel Killamarsh took advantage of NAPIT FIVE leaders Hosetech Mill’s inactivity to move within a point of them thanks to a 5-2 victory at Gate Inn North Wingfield in which, D Singh scored twice. Butchers Arms Spartans recorded a victory over the side above them in the table at the start of play, North Wingfield. Carl Tromans has an eye for goal and he hit two in this win with Miles and Simmons also on target. Brimington Utd made it 2 wins in the last 2 league games with a comfortable 5-2 win over Goldminers. Carl Newell and Kieran Maloney got 2 goals each but the star of the game was Tom Swan making his first appearance for the club this season and he was instrumental in the win showing his quality in a man of the match performance capped by a fine goal.

In NAPIT SIX victories for Bull and Badger and Dronfield Wanderers have been a rarity this season but both won on Sunday, Band B beating Dunston Rovers 3-0, Page, Clay and Evans, whilst Wanderers won 4-1 at Boythorpe. However it is Birdholme1sts who look likely champions after they won 2-1 at second placed New Whitt B to open up a nine point advantage at the top.

Newbold extended their lead at the top of SEVEN to four points after seeing off Slipper in an exciting encounter which they shaded by an odd goal win in five, Paul Vardy, Dave Lewis and Kirk Smith netting, the latter scoring the winning goal. Masons Arms have had their problems this season but on Sunday they outclassed promotion chasing Holmebrook Tavern 1sts, thumping them 8-1 with Dave Inns and Craig Smedley starring, scoring four and three goals respectively. Duckmanton Community also hit eight, this time at the expense of Chesterfield Phoenix, Craig Marples scoring four, Liam Smith three and Paul Dove one. Carl Germany scored a brace as Fidlers Rest won 3-0 at Barlow Kingston Rovers.

Goals were on the menu in NINE as Miners and Diners Clay Cross put nine passed Grassmoor Sports Reserves. Dane Young [one[ and Craig Herbert’s [two] produced the aperitif with the main course Wayne Fullwood’s hat trick, dessert coming in the form of Ricky Fullwood’s treble. The race for the title is now wide open following second placed Brampton Brewery’s superb 4-2 win against leaders Newbold Sports, Matt Hall scoring twice, John Wood and Dan Nowak once each. The division’s other two games ended in draws, Grouse 2-2 with Oxcroft Utd, Chesterfield Town Reserves game with Britannia Tupton finishing likewise.
