Huyton Stanley see off Liverpool Ramblers in convincing fashion to keep title hopes alive!

The first 15 minutes of the game were evenly matched, with both teams having a fair share of possession, both opting to keep the ball on the ground when possible and with neither team registering a shot on goal until the 15th minute.

Half an hour in it was clear that Huyton Stanley were beginning to take control of the game, dominating possession and when off the ball, pressing effectively to limit The Ramblers to play the long ball.

Huyton were rewarded for this with a great goal in the 40th minute, Perry O Sullivan playing a piercing outside the boot through ball which was met and finished emphatically by Joe Noon to give the away side the lead.

Half time- The first 15 minutes were very evenly matched and void of any real goalmouth action, since then it was clear that Huyton began to dictate play and there is no doubt that their lead at half time was a deserved one.

The second half began with an instant chance for the visitors to double their lead following an over-the-top ball, but the resultant chance was rushed and fired wide.

Early into the second half it was clear that the Ramblers were getting a hold of possession more, and more importantly further up the pitch, this was shown by a free kick for them in the 54th minute from the edge of the box, but Huyton cleared this well.

Huyton doubled their lead in the 58th minute, Ramblers failed to clear a ball that was played across the box and were punished by Wes Owens who fired low past the keeper. This goal was arguably against the run of play in the second half so far.

The away side then had a chance to finish the contest and triple their lead following a lofted ball that breaks the Ramblers line, however the resultant chance was fired wide.

Ramblers pushed for a way back into the game in the next half an hour, having sporadic chances every now and then, however, they were unable to truly test the Huyton goalkeeper.

Huyton put the result of the game beyond any doubt in the 91st minute, with Joe Noon scoring his second of the game, calmly dispatching a one on one under the goalkeeper. Game over

Full time- The win for Huyton Stanley was deserved in the end, especially considering their first half performance and dictation of play, Ramblers did have more of the ball in the second half but failed to convert this into any threat on Huyton’s goal and the away side’s decisive finishing proved vital in this deserved 3-0 win.
