Divisions 2&3...

Division 2 leaders Chequers had a 2-1 win over Pear Tree. Steve Teale and Gary Gibson netted, whilst Reece Munford replied.

Nirankari Timebridge are behind on goal difference after Dean Allen and Andy Kelly netted on their debuts against Crooked Billet Boro. Dave Pateman scored the other in the 3-0 win.

Breachwood Lions are third despite Broadhall Athletic taking the lead when ‘keeper Max Anderson spilled the ball into the path of the oncoming Andy McCracken. The equaliser came when Iaian Turkentine’s defensive clearance found the feet of Ali Collins, who ran at the defender and slipped the ball past Rich Edwards. Collins then fed Richard Taaffe to put them in front and keep his run of scoring in every start for the club. Collins grabbed a second-half hat-trick and Taaffe also scored his 14th of the season. Richard Wharton buried a header on his debut from a Dan Jefferies free-kick whilst Ollie Mason made it 8-1.

Lewis Sealy (two) and Damian Hadlow were on target in Emperors Head’s 3-1 win over Rileys Athletic (Danny Russell).

Hartham Press won 4-2 against A1 Trophies with a hat-trick from James Khakpour-Smith and one for his partner for the day Liam Mower, this was backed up by a well organised and resolute midfield and defence. Paul Tully replied with a brace.

Dave Clements hit four goals as Broadhall Icon remained top of Division 3 with a 100 percent record. Lee Kitching and Aaron Penfound scored the others in the 6-1 win. Steve Stapleton registered View Point Wanderers’ goal. They are six points clear and have a game in hand too.

Roebuck Gate remain second despite defeat, their first of the season. Lewis Collins put them in front after twenty minutes, but The Old Post Office equalised shortly after thanks to a header from Ant Alcock before a Theo Griffith strike put them in front. Gate restored parity again before the break through Dave Morton. Karl Rickaby had a great header saved amazingly by the Gate ‘keeper, but just five minutes from the end, TOPO won it when Griffith’s cross saw Steve Riley head into the bottom corner.

ABC Taxis started strongly and deservedly took the lead inside twenty minutes through a strike from Lewis McClean. Chas Bailey extended the lead four minutes later with McClean bagging his second on the half-hour mark. Granby had their best spell of the game just before half-time and pulled one back through Toby Willis. They had chances to reduce the deficit, but ABC punished them when Neal Watson sauntered forward from the back four and coolly lifted his effort over the advancing ‘keeper. Billy-Joe Sewell rounded off the scoring with a fine drive at the near post to extend ABC’s unbeaten run to six games in all competitions.

Old Barclayvians started brightest but conceded a penalty early on, but Ryan King saved it superbly. Nick Welllings scored his first goal in his first start to give them the advantage as he coolly slotted home from the edge of the box after being played in by Callum Rowe. The second goal was the first of four converted free-kicks on the day as young playmaker Rowe deftly played the ball into the box and over the advancing ‘keeper for 2-0. King was finally beaten by a fortunate near post free-kick from Dale Chester against his former club that came off the post and then the ‘keeper. The second-half saw the goal of the match, many passes culminated in Dave Warwick’s cross finding Vooght, who side-stepped his defender and fired into the net. Stevenage Old Town got back within one after Alex Robertson-Cox beat three players to the ball. Owen then scored when he thundered a free-kick home from thirty yards. Wellings received a straight red card for swearing at the referee and the resultant free-kick was again scored by Chester, who bent the ball past replacement ‘keeper Dave Pateman into the far corner for 4-3. Marshall-Zeal hit a late brace to win a thrilling game 6-3 before SOT were also reduced to ten men.

TC Wanderers stay fourth after Nathan Searle (two) and an own goal saw them to a 3-3 draw. Proverbial United were 2-0 up at the break through Josh Stock (two) and Antony Young.
