Athletico Forest stay up, DBC United are relegated and Whammy FC win #FFLTWO.
On a night that was full of high drama there was a few surprise results which contributed to another enthralling round of #FFL football.
Atheltico Forest went in to their game against current league champions Moyes in the Hood knowing that three points would ensure league survival. Defeat though would leave them relying on already relegated Beresford Athletic beating DBC United in the 8:30pm game. For much of the game it was pretty even with Athletico putting in a performance that belied their lowly league position. Unfortunately Moyes in the Hood were without there usual goal keeper which meant their usually tight defence was a bit more porous then usual, a weakness that was highlighted by Athletico's last two goals. In the end Atheltico Forest were good value for their win, a result which condemned DBC United to #FFLTWO and guaranteed Athletico's place in #FFLONE for another season.
As it happens the result of the DBC United V Beresford Athletic was irrelevant as DBC surrendered a 2-0 half time lead to lose to bottom side Beresford Athletic 3-2. A result which would have condemned them to relegation anyway.
In #FFLTWO Whammy FC could only muster a draw against Lambwath United importantly though neither FC Promo or Sporting John Mith could achieve victory points which meant with one game of the season left to play Whammy FC could not be caught and the league title was theirs!
That's not the end of the drama though as last nights results mean that Sporting John Mith, Salthouse Tavern and FC Promo are all capable of gaining that all in important second promotion spot in #FFLTWO with Sporting John Mith and FC Promo both facing each other on the final day of the season.
