JJ Goes Nap It was a predominantly good day for our middle division sides in the County Cup with eight making it through to the last 64, writes Darren “Statto” Jones

David Iweduino (two) and Andrew Levy netted as Unity Nirankari beat Silsoe Park Rangers in the FA National Sunday Cup.

It was sweet sixteen for King Pin United as they obliterated Chequers Inn from the East Herts League in the Herts Intermediate Cup. They hit a dozen second-half goals with almost every outfield player getting in on the act. Hat-trick's apiece for Steve Buckley and Adam Bannister, with the pick of the goals falling to old warhorse Kieran Bowden with a sweetly struck shot. Other scorers were Carl Lingwood (two, one a penalty), Sam Wager (two), Steve Reilly, Callum Rowe, Danny Lingwood, John Godfrey and Dale Chester.

John Johnston went nap as he hit half of Broadhall’s ten as they thrashed Hammer Res. Martin Wilson (hat-trick), Ollie Barnett and Alan Collins grabbed the others.

Dun Cow Res won comfortably thanks to Pete Brewster (hat-trick), Danny Lane, Adam Paine and James Dillnutt at SLM.

Putterills bounced back from recent performance with a comfortable win in Hitchin. Kris McMahon opened the scoring from a free-kick before Jimmy Anderson turned his man to net. Dave Banks scored next, latching onto an industrial Jon Pace clearance. A McMahon indirect free-kick was helped into his own goal by the Broadmead ‘keeper before Jack Mitchell rounded off the scoring.

MBDA were comfortable winners in the end against Cementaprise from Hemel, who reached the last eight last season. In a tight first-half, Kyle Watson’s audacious finish opened the scoring before a dipping shot from twenty-five yards from Ashley Kersey flew in the top corner. After the break, it could’ve been double-figures, but Kersey completed his hat-trick and Sam Harwood also netted.

Stevenage Fencing enjoyed a hard earned win over Pymmes Brooke. Dave Hailey scored what was to be the only goal after twenty minutes when he hit a twenty-yard volley across the ‘keeper after a good flick on from Tom Hillard.

ProCladd won at White Hart thanks to Paul Ricketts (two), Barry Mullaney, Darren Swaine.

Also through are Marquis of Lorne, whose opponents White Horse (Thundridge) forfeited.

A depleted Probuild Res side travelled to Barnet and almost come away with a result. Aaron Penfound played between the sticks due to Stu Howard’s call up to the first-team before they lost two players and played most of the game with nine men. After being three-down, Gary Pomfret kept up his good form to pull a goal back before he played in Bunn, who smashed home another. The amazing fightback was complete when Lee Reece jinked his way through three players unleashed a thirty yard drive into the top corner. All the hard work was undone by a late winner for Roving Reporters.

In a fantastic first half, AFC Crooked Billet strolled into a three-goal lead with some great football. Gary Hillard opened the scoring when he was threaded through by Joe Chilton after ten minutes. Kev Fehmi beat the offside trap to run in on the ‘keeper, round him and tap in before Hillard volleyed his second on the half-hour from a Chris Chalat cross. Eight Bells 2005 were down but not out, pulling one back right on half-time. Despite some poor refereeing decisions going against them, Billet imploded after the break and lost by two.

Highview succumbed in extra-time at ASCO after John Vooght and Dave Morbin had earlier netted.

Laurie Bambridge and Gary Henniker netted by way of consolation for Fox against DP.

James Khakpour-Smith latched on to a through ball to fire home low into the opposite corner and Tony Webb smashed home from close range following a good run from Dave Mower as the strike-duo were on target again for Hartham Press. However, it was not enough as they went down to a good Flamstead End side.

Stevenage Colts Old Boys were roundly beaten at Black Berry Jack
