Gary Saunders, the popular lad from Billet broke his leg, thoughts are with him...

League action...

Adam Furness (two) and Scott Mahoney netted as current champions Dun Cow continued their ascent up the Premier Division table with a win over leaders Bottles.

Despite MH Goldsmith taking the lead early on through Scott Durham, Probuild turned the game around before half-time with a Michael Bunker brace. Firstly from Kerise Powell’s cross, then with a volley from 20 yards after good work from captain Ricky Case. They should’ve extended their lead, but the game turned when Gareth Scrivens was sent-off for a professional foul, Steve Teale equalised from the spot. Goldsmith’s won it through Durham and Grant Sullivan.

Division One champions Dun Cow Reserves claimed all six points in a double-header win over Putterills. Steven Bannister (two) and James Dillnutt netted in the first game. Mark Phillips (two), Dillnutt and Bannister struck in the second, with Pete Morrison grabbing a consolation.

Carl Lingwood set King Pin United on their way in a closely fought first-half, but ProCladd equalised with a well taken volley from James Tyrer. On the hour, Dave Holmes’ deft flick restored the lead before skipper Danny Lingwood and Adam Bannister secured the points.

AFC Crooked Billet took the lead after 20 minutes when a scramble led to Dan Moore sweeping the ball home for his first ever league goal in the three seasons with the blub. Billet’s Gary Saunders suffered a broken leg in an innocuous challenge on the hour before Stevenage Colts Old Boys pinched the game in the last 10 minutes through Peter Lane and Luke Bennett.

John Vooght produced a stunning display as Highview grabbed a surprise win over Broadhall. He struck four times, whilst Adam Wombwell, David Morbin and Nick Wellings also netted. Alan Widdows, John Johnston, Jake Mongston Ryan Chilcott and Vince Kernaghan replied in the 12-goal thriller.

Division Two leaders Stevenage Fencing beat nine-man Old Town Wetherspoons, for whom Scott Taylor hit a consolation. Joe Delasalle (two), David Hailey, Chris Tilbury, Lee Kitching and Garry Smith netted.

Probuild Reserves leapt back into second with a double-win over Fox in Woolmer Green. Craig Braine fired two in the first, Dean Allen scored a 45 yard screamer into the top corner and Aaron Penfound scored a 30 yard thunderbolt which came off the underside of the bar. In the second game, a much changed side won with ease but the Fox ‘keeper kept the score down and the first four of thirteen were bizarrely helped over the line by defenders. Jason Drackford (four), Matthew Jackson (two), Ian Woodfield (two), Lee Gribben (two), Elliott Bunn (two) and Dean Allen were on the mark.

Marquis of Lorne are third and won by the odd goal in seven as Shaun Grainger (two), Jason Lovelock and Frazer Triggs netted. Times Club replied through Craig Mitchell, Karl Rickaby and John Wilson.

A1 Trophies had a good win over Hartham Press. Martin Metcalf, Greg Bradbury, Daniel Pinkerton and Paul Tully scored.

Athletico Peartree won a hard fought contest against division three leaders Broadhall Reserves. They took the lead when Terry Lock's shot came back off the crossbar and Ross Skipper was in the right place to nod his side in front. Broadhall equalised on the hour through Gary Hillard before Jon Dunne's neat touch put Lock in, who rounded four players and the 'keeper to secure the victory.

Stevenage Colts Old Boys Reserves put in a positive performance despite Steve Pateman putting North Herts Celtic in front. Barry Hazelton headed home the equaliser from an acute angle, Adam McAndrews put them ahead shortly afterwards and Dean Page scored with a diving header as they kept slim title hopes alive.

An Ian Canning hat-trick set a rejuvenated Breachwood Lions on their way against Emperors Head. Dan Jefferies (two) and Oliver Mason also scored.

Coopers now have one hand on the Division Four championship as they overcame second placed Broadhall 'A' in a closely contested match. The latter started the strongest and deservedly took the lead after 20 minutes through Paul Hancock from Phil Stevens' pass. Coopers' main threat came from set pieces and it was two corners that were to lead to their two first half goals courtesy of Danny Bowey on the volley and a Paul Ryan tap-in. Graeme Kear netted the decider when his deflected free-kick went past ‘keeper Will Harris. Dan Auld preserved the lead as stand-in ‘keeper.

In another double-header, AFC Chells saw off Marquis Rangers. Rob Barton (two) and Chris Stead (two) netted in the opener and Barton (two) and Adam Harper saw them win by a narrower margin as Anthony Rowe (two) replied.

Luke Smith (two) and Nick Thomas were on target as Bedwell Rangers beat Stevenage Old Town (Paul Smith and Callum Kendrick) by the odd goal in five.

Kieran James (two), Stephen Ward (two), Marc Stobart, Daniel Robey, Matt Woods and an own goal saw off Fairlands as White Lion Walkern won with ease. A Mark Gentleman penalty at 4-0 was mere consolation.

In the league phase of the Frank Neville Memorial Cup, Mark Hollis (two), Daniel Swales (two), Warren Ratcliffe and Mark Edwards scored as Roebuck Gate wiped out the deficit against Crooked Billet Boro. Mark Hemmings and Ben Downham replied on the day.

A Daniel Herdman brace gave Stevenage Leisure Ltd the win on the day, but Dan Welch’s strike meant the points were shared with Mallard Old Boys.
