The East Midland Counties League welcomed new leaders following Tuesday evening’s three games. It was the turn of CLIFTON ALL WHITES to hit the pinnacle for, I believe, the first time in their history. They have played up to four games more than the rest of the chasing pack though, but that doesn’t take anything away from their determination to come from behind to hit the heights in their game at GRAHAM STREET PRIMS. After a goal-less first half Prims went in front with a Charlie Goodwin goal just after the hour only for Kyle Stovell to restore parity ten minutes later. Matt Timms got the all important winner ten minutes from the end to send the Whites one point clear at the top and Prims in more trouble in 19th place.
EASTWOOD COMMUNITY moved up into fourth place with an odd goal of three win at much improved BARROW TOWN. David Leak inspired their sixth win in eight games with a goal on twenty minutes which stood between the teams for more than half of the game until substitute Toby Wildig levelled matters up in the 68th minute. Joy didn’t last too long though because Sam Moore notched as Eastwood winner three minutes later to leave the Leicestershire side still in 15th place.
CLIPSTONE celebrated their fourth win of the campaign in style with a 4-0 roasting of BORROWASH VICTORIA who seem to have slipped back recently into last season’s troubled times. Two goals from Charlie Dawes in the first twenty five minutes set the Lido Boys on their way, and the Warwick brothers combined to emphasise the victory as first Jack increased the lead ten minutes into the second half and then Lewis notched a fourth twelve minutes from the end.
