A Cup Final Preview of North Wingfield MW FC

Playing in Red and Black Shirts with Black Shorts and Socks

After two semi final exits in three seasons, the prospect of a Cup Final after two successive promotion campaigns is a fantastic achievement for a side considered by many as the whipping boys of the bottom division just a few years ago. Upon entering the league in 2007 as Ranch Rovers, the club were perennial strugglers but the determination and improvement of much of the current playing staff, allied with a few shrewd signings, has seen secretary Paul Dakin's dream of having the best side in the village edge steadily closer in the last two seasons. Just 3 defeats in 24 games in all competitions this season, with 85 goals scored and just 39 conceded, sees the Welfare enter the final confident of lifting a trophy for the first time since a previous Welfare side lifted the Chatsworth Cup in May 1997. The players are well aware however that they will need to be at their best against a strong and well organised Fidlers side that dented the Welfare's title ambitions with a 3-3 draw back at the start of March.
