North Hants Junior Cup, Semi Final.

Herriard Sports FC move through to their second cup final this season when they defeated TDI Group FC 4-1 at home on Saturday afternoon, thanks to an in form Sam Cato, who came up with a hat trick. Once again it was late in the game when Herriard made sure of their win, as TDI matched them for a good percentage of the game. It was TDI who took a 15th minute lead when James Brown played Dan Hancock through and as the Herriard defence stood off, he calmly beat the keeper. Herriard bucked up a bit after this and drew level in the 25th when a pin point pass from Chris Smith was headed home by Sam Cato. In the 50th Herriard nosed in front when Cato met a corner by Matt Goodman on the volley and gave Russ Hancock no chance. It was not until the 80th when Herriard scored again, Cato with his third after being put through by Adam Nelson. The game was sewed up with six minutes left when Smith put away a cross by Goodman. Herriard will now play Winklebury Wizards FC at the Whitchurch United Ground on Wednesday 16th Match. KO 7.30 p.m.

Peter Raynbird Cup, Quarter Final.

Darren Hutchins, the Tron FC Manager, has his sights on five trophies this season and he moved closer to his target by beating Division One opponents Basingstoke Athletic FC 5-0 in the Peter Raynbird Cup, to move into the last four. Athletic were missing six regulars and called in several of the reserve team to make up their numbers. Athletic did okay in the first half with the strong wind in their favour. Dave Trevelion, with a 40 yard effort forced a fine save from Shane Moody in the Tron goal and Paul Taylor hit a great chance over the bar. It remained goalless until the 47th minute when a drive from Richard Kalwarczyk was too hot for the keeper to save. The second was a freak effort from Gordon Birch, his shot from the edge of his own penalty area, was caught in the wind and ended up in the net off a defender. In the 60th it became 3-0 when Joe Harris put Zac Reynolds through and following a deflection, the ball went past the helpless keeper. Jamie Ballantyne volleyed in the fourth and Kalwarczyk was credited with the fifth, although that spun in off the boot of the Athletic defender Barry Pullen. Tron will now play DJS Telecoms FC in the Semi Final.
