Kirby Muxloe posted their 1st ever Senior League championship.
Kirby Muxloe posted their 1st ever Senior League championship with a 2-0 midweek defeat of bottom 2 placed Highfield Rangers and will move up into step 6, The East Midlands Counties Football League, as clear champions with a game left.
Barrow Town had to settle for the runners up position and will join Kirby after they completed their season with a 3-3 draw at Ellistown. Ash Warner put 1 hand on the golden boot with another double to take his tally to 35 for the season whilst Paul O?Callaghan emerged as Ellistown?s leading scorer after a brace that took him to 15.
In the other 2 sponsored places, 3rd placed Hinckley Downes slipped up 3-1 at Aylestone Park but hold a 2 point advantage over Saffron Dynamo who were sidelined for the day.
Holwell Sports continued their charge into the top 5 with a 1-0 victory over Kirby whilst Bardon Hill Sports ended a run of 3 without a win after a 1-2 away victory at Anstey Nomads that lifted them back in to the to 6.
A Tom Cooper double helped Birstall Utd to a 4-2 defeat of Rothley Imps and Ibstock Utd posted a welcome victory with a 3-0 defeat of Ratby Sports.
Blaby and Whetstone dropped their first points in 4 starts, which may have cost them a move to step 6, when they were held to a 3-3 draw at St Andrews and a brace from Ryan Bassett set Thurmaston Town up for a 4-1 defeat of bottom placed Thurnby Rangers.
