Matt King of Park Road Baptist FC played his 200th consecutive game for the club on Saturday 1st April
In an incredible feat for one so young (although at 26 he's probably approaching veteran!!) Matt King of Park Road Baptist FC played his 200th consecutive game for the club on Saturday. Having not missed a game since he started playing back in 1998 Matt has been the spearhead of Park Road's attack scoring an impressive 157 goals, leading them to 2 successive promotions, although with 2 successive relegations following perhaps he could've done with scoring a few more!!
Matt has also referee'd on the league this year and so probably annoyed teams even more than when he has played against them.
His appearance on Saturday against Immanuel Youth showed touches of brilliance (a rasping 25 yard volley which came back off the post with keeper well beaten, and a dipping 30 yard free kick which had to be touched onto the bar) however no more goals were added to his tally.
Here's hoping to another 200 games before retirement!!
