Dan Smith gets a deserved equaliser
MISSED CHANCES PROVE COSTLY
With four likely starters missing Dan Purvis, David Mullen, Ian Hudson and Aaron Todd all reporting injured the strength of the Robertson squad was put to the test.
Manager Steve Dean went for an attacking 3-4-1-2 formation. Some poor finishing and some unlucky strikes against the woodwork meant that Ellison SC got a point and Robertson Scaffolding dropped their first points of the season.
Jonny Matthews had two great chances to score in the first and last minutes of the first half only to be thwarted by the keeper. In fact Robertsons should have easily been 3 or 4 goals up at halftime. The three man defence were coping well with Ellisons attack with Wayne Henry in particular in fine form.
Christie Elliott got the second half off to a great start with a tremendous strike to keep up his goal scoring record in every game hes played in. Robertsons seemed to lose a bit concentration and allowed Ellison to get into the game with two goals in quick succession.
The game was getting a bit physical with the referee allowing some bad tackling away with no punishment. There was 5 bookings in the game three for Robertsons all for dissent which were a bit harsh considering the amount of fouls by Ellison that got away totally unpunished.
After hitting the woodwork three times Robertsons pressure paid off when Dan Smith chested the ball home Darryll Donnelly making sure but the ball was already over the line.
This was not one of Robertsons better performances of the season with Wayne Henry, Dan Smith, Chrissy Sinclair and Christie Elliott being the top performers. But at least they remain unbeaten in all competitions.
