Icon-ic Champions... Broadhall Icon became the third champions crowned this season as they sewed up the Division Three title, writes Darren “Statto” Jones (statto@cssfl.info).

Some deadly finishing saw FC Nirankari to a comfortable score-line and go through to a Challenge Cup Quarter-Final with Broadhall. Andrew Iwediuno (hat-trick), Ross Connolly (two), Steve Williams and David Iwediuno were on target in the 7-2 win over MBDA. Ashley Kersey and Craig Sutherill replied.

A strike from Ian Thorne and an own goal saw Dun Cow beat Broadhall 2-0 and go through to a Premier Division Cup Semi-Final with MBDA.

In the Division One Cup, Terry Lock bagged a hat-trick, but not of his usual standard. MKS Carpentry took the lead when Ray Downes found Russ Ayles, who fired home. They missed further chances, mainly through Josh Dance, before TC United got level when a great bit of skill saw Lock waltz past two players and charge into the box. However, a weak shot seemed easy for Dave Barker, but somehow the ball trickled under him Minutes later, a poor corner bobbled and a planned clearance by Ade Barry skewed straight to Lock, who tapped home. More chances came for both sides before Lock completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. They’ll meet FC Mallard for a place in the final.

In the Division Three Cup, TC Wanderers took the lead through Nathan Searle’s 20 yard strike before he doubled the lead, snapping up the loose ball from the ‘keepers spill. A Granby player gave TC their third before they scored at the right end. However, Daniel Papp made it 4-1 when he tapped home after lobbing the ‘keeper. They now await the winners of the tie between The Old Post Office and Proverbial United.

Almond Tree United played out a tight and energetic goalless draw with Arena-Group to almost certainly sew up the Premier Division runners-up spot.

FC Mallard gave themselves a hint of a chance of runners-up spot in Division One after beating Coopers United for the second successive week. Building on the cup win from 7 days earlier, Rob Barton (two), Gav Bowler and Dave Hollands were on target. Christian Goodyear replied.

Yet another hat-trick from Joel Mason made the difference as Nirankari Timebridge beat A1 Trophies 4-1. Terry Pateman also netted in the win which took them back to the top of Division Two, Dean Dolby replied.

Hartham Press beat Broadhall Athletic 2-0 thanks to Jamie Burbury and James Khakpour-Smith.

Emperors Head finish in the top half as Stuart Smillie (two), Ben Collins and Joe Whittaker were on the mark in the 4-1 win over Rileys Athletic (Matt Evans).

Broadhall Icon are Division Three champions after a 3-1 win over ABC Taxis. Dave Clements, Lee Kitching and Steve Skinner netted for Icon, John Saunders replied.

Last week, The Committee found Old Barclayvians guilty of fielding an ineligible player, costing them 12 points, this has now ended any challenge Icon had to the title.

Stevenage Old Town were in front when Michael Hebbs scored with a diving header from Ben Gumble’s cross. Gary Linehan controlled the ball and hit a superb 30 yard volley to double the lead before Proverbial United pulled one back through Liam Elmes. The two-goal lead was restored when Callum Kendrick was brought down just inside the box, Linehan converted from the spot. A good fight back from Proverbial saw them earn a point through Sam Stephenson and John Stock, 3-3.

View Point Wanderers took the lead when Haydn Essam attempted to head the ball out for a corner, but the livewire Gary Baker kept it in with his chest and volleyed it across goal into the top corner. The Old Post Office were level when Ant Alcock headed in Theo Griffith’s long throw-in. Ryan Hodgkiss struck from the edge of the box to restore VPW’s lead before the break. However, it was to be TOPO’s day, ten minutes after the break, Griffith’s corner was headed home by Karl Rickaby before Griffith provided Tom Robbins to head them in front. Jay Smith scored an absolute stunner from 35 yards out before Barry Plumber made it 5-2.

In the Frank Neville Memorial Cup, the holders began the defence with a draw, which could be their downfall. Pear Tree started well and Ben Collins quickly added to their goal start to give them a deserved 2-0 advantage. Gradually, AJS Tyres Broadhall asserted themselves and began to control the game. Just before the half-hour, Liam Castle fired home a powerful header from a great cross from Joe Lee. The equaliser came from Jon Myers' close range effort after Michael Emmings tee-up. A player from each side was later sent off.

Rob Verdia, Ryan Ellis and Andrew Yates netted for Real Stevenage to earn them a point against Old Barclayvians.

Dave Morton was on target for Roebuck Gate as they drew on the day against Stevenage Leisure Limited (Matt Sharp), winning 4-1 overall.
