CT66 Reserves triumph

We were subjected to all four season’s during the Patron’s Plate cup Final, rain, wind, hail and sunshine. This fixture has had the habit of throwing up shocks but this season the form book prevailed as CT66 ran out comfortable winners.
Writtle started the game on the front foot and caused some uncomfortable moments in the CT penalty area.
However within 12 minutes a through ball allowed Tom Trower to break clear and coolly slot home to pit the Division One outfit in front. 4 minutes later and CT66 had doubled their advantage when Ollie Hanlon broke down the left and his sot across keeper Langford nestled in the far corner.
Writtle continued to drive forward and Harry Shawyer attacked the CT defence where he found Connor Jones in space but he shot wide. Jack Griggs then went close for Writtle as they looked to reduce the deficit.
CT were however more clinical in attack and on 27 minutes Ollie Hanlon added his second and CT’s third.
Jordan Scott was then on hand on 34 minutes to net CT’s fourth.
To their credit Writtle never gave up but could not match the decisive finishing of their opponents.

Writtle went on search of a goal but CT66 always looked as though they could add to their significant advantage. Jay Taylor somehow headed wide when it looked easy to score and see CT into a five goal lead.
The game became spread and was end to end. The fifth did come on 60 minutes when the ball was flicked home by Joe Burton. Soon it was six as Hanlon again attacked down the left, and his cross was diverted into his own net by Harry Shawyer.
Writtle continued to show some fight and hit the bar from a free kick, and forced Blackwell in the CT66 goal to make a number of smart saves
Despite their desire Writtle could not find a consolation allowing CT66 to complete a treble, having already secured the Division One League and Cup.
