Monday 8 April Monday evening saw Runcorn Sports post a significant result in their bid for promotion from the Go2Day West Cheshire League's Division Two, when they came away from Mossley Hill Ath. U23's with maximum spoils, after efforts from Kier Fenlon and Dom Bazley sealed a 2-1 win in fading light. Adil Mohammed netted the hosts' consolation, WRITES ERNIE MCDONALD.
The points were shared when goals from Matty Wardell (2) Layton McPhearson and Joe Summers helped Aintree Villa Res. to a 4-4 stalemate with South Sefton Borough; while the evening's Division Three action saw Chester Nomads Res. keep promotion drive on course, after a solitary effort from Marco Appollonio denied Ellesmere Port Town U23's, and moved Nomads to within four points of second placed FC Kirkby, with the advantage of a game in hand. At the other end of the table a Steve Rowlands hat trick earned Capenhurst Villa a precious point from a 3-3 stalemate with Helsby who hit back via Owen Kucharski, John Clayton and Tom Waring Congratulations to Youth Division title challengers, Maghull B, who emerged 3-2 victors over Division Three counterparts, Poulton Vics, and merited their place in the Development Trophy final. Efforts from Ethan Sheen and Luke Phillips were Vics' contribution. Opposition in the final will be provided by Athletico Blues, who were inspired by doubles from George Murray and Isaiah Emegbuonye in a 5-3 triumph over Cammell Laird 1907. Kieran Law also made the scoresheet for the winners. Lairds struck through Theo McDowell (2) and Jack Gordon. In the Youth Division, it was celebration time for title challengers , South Liverpool, beaten only once this season and with plenty of games in hand, after they won 5-0 against Mossley Hill Ath. thanks to goals from Kian Skinley, Jack Colburn, Niall King, Callum Grimes and Ellis Jago.
WEEKEND ACTION.........
Saturday's Division One action saw Capenhurst Villa face Helsby for the second time in four days in a back to back reunion, and this time it was Cape who savoured the last laugh and bagged maximum spoils, following a 2-1 victory, confirmed by efforts from Steve Rowlands and Josh McEwan. The hosts had Nathan Conlon in reply.
South Liverpool Res. assumed pole position in Division Two after they posted a 4-2 win over Marshalls Res. Craig Byrne, Habib Zebida, Amr Badhawi and Jack Salmon shared the goals with Callum Hodgkinson responsible for both goals for the visitors. Third placed Runcorn Sports scored through Reece Harwood and Steven Woodward but forfeited two points when Hooton hit back to share the spoils with replies from William Buldin and ace marksman, Joel Whalley.

This Friday, 19th April, sees Division Two's Haworth & Gallagher Bowl final take place at Cammell Laird with leaders South Liverpool Res. set to lock horns with Runcorn Sports in what promises to be a keenly contested affair. K.O. is 7.30pm.

Only one game took place in Division Three where West Kirby Res., with goals from Lew Favager and Kyle Bennett won 2-1 at Capenhurst Villa Res. who had Aiden Hill on target.

The Shield Final will be taking place on Tuesday at Vauxhalls in what promises to be an intriguing game between the two leading contestants in Division 3 Cammell Laird 1907 Res v FC Kirkby K.O. is 7.30PM

Youth Division action saw Maghull B boost their title claims after Luke Kilcullen and Billy Brennan found the net in a 2-0 decision over Litherland Remyca.
