Details about the new referees course
Hello colleagues,
The League Management Committee discussed with Ray Brown of Cornwall FA
the present referee situation at their meeting on Monday.
There is a shortage as you are all aware and it is not going to improve.
We therefore need to try and run a similar course to the successful one
ran in West Cornwall in the last few weeks to try and get additional
numbers even if some of them would only be available when their own team
hasn't got a match.
We are asking every club to go back and speak to their committees,
players to try and drum up volunteers for a course. This would ideally
suit players nearing the end of their playing days or even just someone
you know that just needs that little push into volunteering to step
forward and have a go.
Ray has drafted a letter (attached) with all the necessary details. The
course is currently set for Bodmin with a Friday evening, Saturday and
Sunday conclusion. Alternatively the venue can be changed to another
locality if more volunteers come forward in one particular area or
spread over a number evenings instead of what is proposed. The
arrangements will be set to meet the needs of those that volunteer. The
league will refund the £50 cost of the course once volunteers has met
the 10 game criteria.
Something has to be done to get more referee numbers into the game. If
clubs don't make a concerted effort to try and find volunteers I very
much fear for this game we love. Please don't think that your club can
ignore this message and leave it to others. It is in all our interests
for every club to push this as hard as you possibly can.
Contact details are on the attached letter. If you need any further
information or advice feel free to contact me and if I don't know the
answer I will certainly find it out.
It is now down to you all. I wish you every success.
Thanks & regards
Mike
