A brace from the impressive George Salter, and goals from Ross Tierney and Adam Mitty helped the Cardinals in a dominant second half performance.
The home side came into the fixture three points behind the Ramblers, but the visitors had a game in hand.
In the earlier fixture between the two sides this season, it was the Ramblers who were victorious in a 3-1 win back in September.
The Cardinals controlled possession in the early part of the first half, but the Ramblers looked to be more of a threat on the counter attack.
Eventually, the early threat of the visitors paid off and they went 1-0 in front.
But the hosts were frustrated not to be at least level going into half time as they stuck at it, creating quite a few chances by the end of the first half but it wasn’t to be, just yet.
Cardinals made a few changes at half-time but the key change was moving George Salter further up the pitch from midfield to striker.
He had an instant impact scoring with a well guided half volley only a couple of minutes into the second half which really set the tempo for what was to come.
Around ten minutes later, Salter followed up to get a brace to sink the Ramblers, but it was exactly what the Cardinals deserved.
Chances for the Ramblers at the other end of the pitch were hard to come by, but their one and only chance was wasted straight at the goalkeeper.
The goal of the game was the third for the Cardinals, a ball over the top, in behind the Ramblers was latched onto by Adam Mitty who crossed into the box for George Salter who put it nicely on a plate for player manager, Ross Tierney to put past the keeper.
The final goal for the hosts came from Mitty as once again the Ramblers backline’s offside trap was beaten as Cain McMordie assisted with a simple squared pass to put the game beyond the Ramblers’ grasp.
The win has taken the Cardinals above the Ramblers on goal difference and both teams are only five points away from the top three.
Cardinal Newman First Team manager, Adam Mitty said: “I think from that now, we can take that as a positive because we lost the first game to them, and we turned it around in the second. We've had a few injuries as well so we can bring them back in and we can have a strong end to the season.”
