FOOTBALL..............WELCOME BACK
NORTHERN DIVISION
Mansfield Town remain in top spot after a 4-0 away win over Coalville Town. The Stags scorers were Nyle Blake (2), Ellis Williamson and Keaton Ward. Allexton & New Parks stay in second spot after a hard fought 1-0 away win at Ashby Ivanhoe with Blake Bilby getting the all important goal. Allexton are one point behind Mansfield and have a game in hand. It must have felt like starting a new season for Gresley as they played their first home game since November 11th 2015. The long wait didn’t seem to hinder them as they recorded a 5-0 victory over Ibstock United with the goals coming from Owen Judd (2), Zaki Evans, Harry Hughes and Josh Dutton. Gresley are thirteen (13) points behind leaders Mansfield Town but have five (5) games in hand.
SOUTHERN DIVISION
Leicester Nirvana and Aylestone Park shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Naeem Adams and Tariq Wilson for Nirvana with Aylestones’ replies coming from Mitchell Fairhurst and Callum Key. St Andrews title march gathered pace as they had a comfortable 6-1 home victory over Thurmaston Magpies despite playing for over an hour with ten (10) men. The Andrews took the lead via a Jamie York penalty but Thurmaston never gave up and equalised when McCauley Kenny headed home from a corner. Further goals from Dan Marriott, Ryan Kirk, Max Lowe and Tristian Atkinson made the game safe with goalkeeper Ben Challis also getting in on the act as he slotted home a second half penalty.
