Gary Pomfret, 2 as Broadhall Icon stay 100% in Div 3...

Divisions 2&3...

Division 2:
Paul Osbourne put Chequers ahead early on followed up by an Ant Koop header for a 2-0 half-time score. Carl Thompson came out of goal and scored with his first touch before going on to seal a hat-trick. He formed a great second-half partnership with Steve Teale, who ended up scoring five. Marcus Morton added another past Broadhall Athletic ‘keeper Andy Jackson in the 11-0 romp as they went top of the league on goal difference.

Arlesey Town striker Joel Mason was the difference again, bagging four for Nirankari Timebridge in their 5-4 win. Dave Pateman grabbed the other goal, whilst Emperors Head replied through Stuart Smillie (two), Dave Hannaway and Ashley Sealy.

Breachwood Lions were looking good to go top, 3-0 up against lowly A1 Trophies, but what a response from the reds. A1 started well, creating a number of chances which were superbly saved by the opposing ‘keeper. However, it was Breachwood who took a 2-0 lead into half-time, both scored by Ali Collins from the same acute angle after turning a defender. A1 Trophies hit the post from ten yards before half-time, a warning for the home side. Shortly after half-time Ollie Mason converted an Iaian Turkentine cross to give the Lions an unassailable lead. However, A1 clawed them back, the first came from Simon Longman, breaking down the wing, seeing the ‘keeper off his line and chipping the ball home. Almost immediately, Trevor Long played a through ball to Greg Bradbury, who beat the defender, dragged the ball back and calmly slotted past the ‘keeper. James Harrod then broke down the wing and cut the ball back across the box, and while all the defenders went near post, Tallem Dennis drifted in with a lovely finish to equalise. Full of confidence, A1 continued to hassle the back line, who then panicked and put the ball out for a corner, Harrod floated the ball in and a Lions defender headed the ball into his own net for the winner. Two more red cards in this game, a poor foul by Lions’ Adam Jefferies on Longman saw the latter react and both players went.

Pear Tree also blew a chance to go top and build on their excellent win last week. Hartham Press went into a two-goal lead thanks to lobbed finishes from James Khakpour-Smith and Keith Swift before an outrageous free-kick from forty yards from Dan Curtin made it 3-0 at half time. Pear Tree fought hard and pulled two back through Reece Munford and Aaron Reed, but it wasn’t enough.

Tom Bowgett, Callum Russell, Paul Salisbury and an own goal saw Rileys Athletic win comfortably against Crooked Billet Boro.

Division 3:
On a day Broadhall Icon made it five-from-five they went in front when a Gary Pomfret flick-on found Chris Bunker un-marked to smash home. It was soon two thanks to a Dan Gregory pass to Lee Kitching, who volleyed into the top corner. The Old Post Office pulled one back when a defensive mix up led to Karl Rickaby firing home a good volley from 12 yards out. Gregory’s throw-in put Pomfret through and he calmly chipped the ‘keeper into the corner before the same combination brought the fourth. TOPO got a second goal they deserved for dominating the second-half when Tom Robbins slotted home.

Shaun Skutela hit a hat-trick and Dave Morton was also on target as Roebuck Gate stayed unbeaten in second. View Point Wanderers replied through Lee Hollingsworth.

Old Barclayvians put in another dominant display and the opening goal came direct from a delightful in-swinging corner from Pat Owen which went in off the back post. It was from another Owen corner that saw Josh Watson sweep home from close range to put them two-up. The next was a picture book one as Watson met a knock down perfectly on the edge of the box and smashed his second in the top corner. TC Wanderers pulled one back through Mark Gentleman before Joe Marshall-Zeal got the goal he deserved to extend the lead. Watson conceded a penalty, which Kris Krol netted from to make it 4-2...
