The Matt Kendall Communities Shield Final. BCFA Headquarters, Ray Hall Lane, 2pm KO

The time has come for the final of The Matt Kendall Foundation Communities Shield.

The competition between the Birmingham Communities League and the Sandwell Communities League has progressed to the final between Birmingham Communities League winners Athletic Midland FC and runners-up Kurdish FC.

Some of you may know that Matt Kendall, one of the original creators of the Communities Leagues, passed away after a battle against illness. Matt was a great believer in the power of football to do good and change lives, alongside his tireless community and charity work his loss will be felt across the whole of Birmingham. Matt continued his community work up until the end of his life. The BCL and the Birmingham County Football Association thought it was only right to name the competition after Matt Kendall's foundation without whom none of us would be here today.

We all owe Matt a great debt of gratitude and will be celebrating his life throughout the day. His story can be found here http://www.themattkendallfoundation.org/

The game will be played at the home of the Birmingham County Football Association, Ray Hall Lane (just off the Newton Road, Great Barr. Directions can be found here http://www.birminghamfa.com/help-centre/directions

Entry will be £2 on the door

Who will come out on top?

Athletic Midlands are currently on for the treble and after their performance in the BCL Cup Final against Sporting Sandwell there are few doubts they are capable to go and go again! Kurdish should never be underestimated however they have a number of fantastically technically gifted footballers capable of opening up any team and with Ramyar Mohammed banging in goals for fun this season it will be an open game!

Let us know you are coming! Pass on the event to your friends and friends of friends!
