Ideal bash the Crew to lift another trophy

IDEAL FC rounded off their pre-season preparations by outplaying fierce rivals BashmentCrew FC 2-0 in the Club Ideal Tournament final at Flamengo Park stadium in Kent on Sunday.

In one of the most organized and inspired displays in a long time, IDEAL dominated the stubborn Bashment boys from the first whistle. TP Zambuko's charges fought for every ball and closed down BashmentCrew's moves in the midfield, denying supply to their striker, Nqobizitha Ncube.

The whole team were at their best that day, running their lungs out to snuff out any build ups BashmentCrew tried to string up. Player/Coach Sibanda, Francis Siziba, Humphrey Jaricha and Rupert Laforce marshalled the defence so well Bashment rarely entered IDEAL's 18-yard box, leaving keeper Eddie just a mere spectator.

In fact, Sibanda's boys were a marvel to watch. They had a game plan and they worked it. Their passing was accurate, and they kept possession as they strung together well-laid passes which were well thought and effective. Sadly, Beston Matabile had to be replaced by Dexter Kanyowa after sustaining a knee injury.

Laforce, who played right back, combined well with the strikers on that day. In the sixteenth minute, Laforce dispossessed Bashment player in the middle of the park. He moved down the line on the right side before releasing a brilliant telling cross into Bashment's 18-yard box. The cross was put in the back of the net by Bashment defender Charles 'Toro' Guvamatanga for an own goal.

In the second half Siwela and new boys Brian and Leonard caused havoc for the clueless Bashment defence and midfield as they made darting runs up front and from the midfield.

Bashment were stung again in the 56th minute when Brian was brought down by Bashment keeper Charlie 'DJ'. Brian in the box, but the referee adjudged it outside and therefore denying IDEAL a clear penalty. However justice was done when man of the match Lacoh scored one of the best goals so far from the resultant free kick. He hit a low, hard drive which went past the wall and keeper into the far left corner.
