Basingstoke & District League Match Reports from Saturday 25th November, By Peter Raynbird.

Basingstoke Saturday League
Division One
Bounty United were unable to raise a team to play Tadley Calleva A at Castle Fields, so the three points will be awarded to Tadley A.
Division Two
This was a disappointing result for Longdog Soldiers who went down 3-2 against Chineham, but felt they had a good percentage of the game and missed plenty of opportunities. It was however Chineham who took the lead in just the second minute when their Man of the Match Fin Thompson found Ricky Smith with a deep cross and he put the chance away. In the 4th minute Longdog drew level when Terry Dingley converted a penalty when Tim Rogers tripped Nathan Bedford. Max Trodd then put Longdog in front in the 35th with a 20-yard screamer In the 66th Thompson again carved out the chance for Smith to score his second and then Shane West put Chineham 3-2 ahead with an assist by Pat Callahan. After this it was chance after chance for Longdog, but good defending and the fine goalkeeping by Maurice Walpole, who saved three one on ones when Sam Trodd was through, meant they kept all three points.
After beating them 9-4 the previous week in the North Hants Cup, Origin Headley could only manage a 2-2 draw in the league match against AFC Aldermaston A this time. Jonny Gurney opened the scoring for Origin after 20 minutes with a 40-yard strike and although chances were rare Origin did hit the bar twice through Wayne Barlow and Leo Pedro before the break. Aldermaston looked to have a stronger side than last week and in the 55th Anthony Gray equalised from a Jon Rooney pass. Five minutes later Origin restored their lead when a 20-yard free kick taken by Barlow proved too good for the keeper. It was Rooney who came up with the equalizer when his free kick was well saved, and he followed up to net the rebound.
