Hampshire Junior B Cup Second Round
Somesay made it to the Third Round of the Hampshire Junior B Cup after beating Basingstoke Athletic 2-1, the decider coming five minutes from time from Player/Manager Luke Gore. It was Athletic who led at half time after Josh Boyle had given them a 20th minute advantage following a corner. They remained ahead until the 70th when Gore sent Hayden Chalker through to round he keeper and net. Athletic did hit the post, but it was Gore who came up with the winner after being set up by Chalker in the 85th minute.
Fancied Sherborne Saints will not be joining them in the next round after they lost their unbeaten record against Bournemouth visitors Durley Reserves. It was after a penalty shootout they made their exit after the scores were level at 3-3 after 90 minutes. Things looked good when they were leading 2-0 after Luke Morgan took a through ball from Liam Doran to score after 15 minutes and then Matt Kelly took a pass from Graham Dwyer for number two. Durley came back strongly in the second half to level on the hour and they equalized in the 75th minute. Things looked bleak for Saints when the visitors went in front with five to go, but Kelly took a through ball from John James to make it 3-3 in the 88th minute. In the shootout, only Andy Darmody and Warren Hill could beat the Durley keeper from the spot kicks, so it ended 4-2 to the visitors.

Basingstoke A Cup Quarter Finals.
Two of the scheduled Basingstoke A Cup Quarter Final matches had to be postponed due too waterlogged pitches. The Herriard Sports tie against AFC Aldermaston Reserves and the match at Castle Field between Bounty United and Twentyten will now take place later in the month.
The Quarter Final at Barlow’s Park was played and the holders Hook managed a 2-1 win against Tadley Calleva A, who they beat in the Final last season. Hook looked to have taken the lead, only for the effort from Dan Mauridian being disallowed and then in the tenth Tadley went in front. It was from midfield the goal came when Gary Hibbs caught keeper Greg Archer off his line and his 28 yard shot looped into the top corner. It was in the 28th minute when Hook drew level when James Neville set up Tim Hearson who found the net from he edge of the penalty area. Tadley lalways looked in the game and Jason Graham forced two good saves from Archer. It was Hook who attacked strongly and after Mauridian had missed a golden chance by shooting wide of an open goal earlier, they took the lead in the 64th minute. James Westwood was the scorer after he intercepted a poor clearance, turned his man and made no mistake with his finish. With two minutes left Tadley went down to ten men when Dan Walkley was sent off after two yellow cards.
The surprise of this round at at Berrydown where Overton United A lost 3-2 to Winklebury Wizards.
Since being pushed up into Division One Wizards have not won a game, having lost all seven league matches and conceded 38 goals. It was in the 12th minute when George Lagden intercepted a poor pass out by the keeper and this led to Joe Lake scoring their opener. They were on top and in the 26th Richie Lowther sent a nice through ball for Lagden to make it 2-0, a neat chip from 15 yards. Right on half time Overton were awarded a penalty after Slyani Thomas was adjudged to have been fouled and Sami Aldodori netted from the spot. After the break Overton pressed continuously but Wizards weathered the storm until their keeper Aiden Parker, under pressure, mishandled a cross from Nino Franco and Thomas netted from close in. More Overton attacks were sustained and on the break Matt King ran at their back four and unleashed an unstoppable 25 yard shot that proved the winner. Although Overton had a lot of the play, it was Lagden who came closest to scoring when he hit the bar.
Basingstoke B Cup Quarter Finals
AFC Berg progressed through to the Semi Finals of the Basingstoke B Cup after seeing off Chineham with a 3-0 victory. The game was all over at half time as Berg had swept into a three goal lead. Kieran Alleyne gave them the lead after ten minutes when he headed home a corner at the second attempt after his first effort was well saved by Nick Tucker. Alleyne then put through Carlos Gonzales for a two goal lead and by
Domingo the 20th minute Ashley Burchett headed the third. Eugenio Dominguez had a chance for Chineham who did improve in the second half when Finlay Thompson had a decent effort saved and Anthony Hosey hit a chance over the bar, but Berg seemed content with their lead and to retain their unbeaten record in the nine matches played so far.
Twentyten Reserves joins Berg in the last four after a 1-0 win against Basingstoke Colts. Trevor Craig, the Colts manager, felt it was the best his young team had played so far and praised his keeper Reece Emery for at least five fine saves to keep them in the game. It was in the 44th minute when the lone goal came, a flick on by Franklin Spacagna and Dan Hancock was in the box to beat Chapman. On the whole it was an even contest with Darren Gary in action, making some good saves when Bailey Craig and James Self could have equalized and then right at the end, the best when Benica Opria was through and looked to add to the six has already netted for the bottom club. Manager Bailey feels if he can get a more regular side available each week, they will improve.
Basingstoke Saturday League
There was just the one league match, a division two matches between Longdog Soldiers and Origin Headley and it proved a very hotly contested affair with Longdog winning eventually 4-3 and moves into the top four. Although it was not until the second half when side could get a goal, it was Longdog the more dominant team and in the 50th minute they took the lead when a well struck free kick taken by Sam Trodd proved much to good for the keeper. Jamie Perryman was very active for Origin and had shot blocked on the line before Longdog went two goals ahead through Terry Dingley in the 60th minute and by the 70th they were three goals ahead following a bullet header from Taylor Butler. Origin came back with two quick goals from Perryman, but Sam Trodd scored his second from an assist by substitute Chris Andrews to make it 4-2. Origin came again with a late goal from Marc Bone, but no further comeback as Longdog deserved the three points.
