North Hants May Cup Quarter Finals
Twentyten lost to Broughton in the Final of the North Hants May Cup last season and when they met on Saturday in the Quarter Final stage, they made their exit after being beaten in a penalty shootout after the scores were level at full time. They had a good enough start against the Andover League club by taking the lead after 30 minutes through a free kick taken by Lucas Pickett and then early in the second half they went 2-0 ahead when Ryan Lupton netted following a good ball from Craig Atkinson. In the 49th Broughton reduced the arrears and then on the hour a penalty was conceded to level the scores. Twentyten had the better of play with Joe Hill forcing a one on one save and Lupton forcing two good saves. It went straight to penalties in this competition and all were successful until Lupton took the fifth and it was saved.
Hook were fancied to get through against Division Two opponents AFC Berg, but they also were knocked out after a penalty shootout, when Berg scored all five, with Peter Lomax scoring the decider. It was Hook who took a two-goal lead, the first from Dan Mauridian from a Dan Mellor pass and Dan Framp scored the second in the 15th when put through by Miles Craig. Dan Deadman took advantage of a bad mix up at the back to pull a goal back and Berg equalised when a free kick from Jay Greene hit the post and rebounded for Kieran Alleyne to net. Mauridian missed a penalty for Hook, but Craig did score to give Hook a 3-2 interval lead. Paul Crow made it 3-3, but the Hook keeper Greg Archer suffered a broken finger in making the save and was replaced by outfielder Sam Barker. The deputy was then beaten when a shot from Ash Elward proved too good for him. Mauridian made amends for his penalty miss to level with a header from Mellors cross, but in the penalty shootout, he was the unfortunate Hook player to shoot wide.
The other Division Two side to get through to the Semi Finals was Somesay, who defeated Andover opponents Kings Somborne 3-1. They went a goal down in the 15th minute, but Charlie Sheridan equalised in the 35th. It was stalemate until the 70th when Joe Hodge restored the lead and in the last-minute Sam Lovelock came up with the third to ensure a place in the last four.
Herriard Sports last lose a game back in October, but they were certainly second best against Kingsclere, who operates in the Andover League these days, as they were well beaten 9-1 at the Fieldgate Centre. There were really no excuses for the heavy defeat as we were at full strength and just had an off day, said Herriard stalwart Martin Bishop. Hat tricks for Shaun Foster and Lee Hamilton, a brace from Jack Appleby and Jack Hibberd a single was the Kingsclere scorers as they swept into a two goal in the opening 14 minutes. It was 5-0 at the break and it was not until the 81st minute when Stephen Horton scored the lone goal from a Chris Dobbie pass.
North Hants Saturday Junior Cup Quarter Finals.
There are three Basingstoke League clubs through to the Semi Final stage of the North Hants Junior Cup, assuring there will be at least one in the Final. Overton United A have struck some very good form recently and saved their best for this North Hants Junior Cup Quarter Final against Origin Headley who they defeated 9-1. It ended with hat tricks for Scotty Winterborne and Kyle Buckland, who opened the scoring after a Ben Wooton shot was saved in the 8th minute. Winterborne then put Wootton through for the second. By half time they were 7-0 ahead, with Winterborne scoring his third and Wootton his second. Samie Aldoori added another before Shane Thorne headed the lone Origin goal. The final goal, from Buckland for his hat trick, came with a fine left footed strike, his opener with his right foot and his other was a header from the Brodie Good cross.
Longdog Soldiers are through after beating CK Andover away by winning a penalty shootout. 5-4. It was a goalless game until the 51st minute when then the Andover League side took the lead. Longdog responded in the 70th when Sam Trodd scored with a free kick in off the post and keeper Jake Barnes kept them in the game with a string of saves, so that brought the shootout. Terry Dingley, Sam Mosdell, Jake Pratchett, Trodd and Tom Perry, all netted from the spot and a good save by Barnes saw Longdog through to their first Semi Final.
It was a disappointing day all round for Winklebury Wizards who crashed out of the cup after being beaten 9-0 at home to Andover New Street Swifts. They conceded goals in the 4th. 27th the 40th to trail at the break and then a decision to use their only substitute at the start of the second half backfired when their keeper was injured and had to go off making a one on one save and with ten men for the remaining 40 minutes, under a lot of pressure hence the heavy defeat.
Division Two side Chineham had a decent first half against Bounty United, but tired in the second period and lost 7-2. Matt Love gave Bounty the lead after five minutes from a Jordon Willis cross, but Chineham came back strongly with two goals from Ricky Smith, both from assists by Eugenio Dominguez. Order was restored when Love took a pass from Ashley Neal to level and Neal made it 3-2 at half time. Although John Smith was the pick of the under pressure Chineham defence, it was Bounty dominating and Willis scored the fourth from Love pass and Jamie Ballantyne after a solo run made it 5-2. Neal then added another before his father Andy Neal took a pass from Ballantyne to end the one side second half.

Division Two
There was only one league match played due to the waterlogged pitches at Tadley and North Warnborough, but the pitch was surprisingly fit at Aldermaston where the Division Two match against Basingstoke Athletic was played. It resulted in a 3-2 win the visitors who now opens up three points lead at the top of the table. A neat finish by Vinny Kennedy in the 15th minute gave Aldermaston the lead after 25 minutes, but Ryan Watts levelled the scores in the 35th after his first effort bounced off the keeper and fell kindly for him to finish the chance off. Lee O’Grady forced good save from keeper Nathan Innis on his début as it finished level at the break. In the 60th a corner from Paul Taylor was put away by substitute Connor Lemon and Aaron Johns made it 3-1 with a 40-yard lob that proved too good for the new keeper. Ten minutes from time Aldermaston came again with s goal from Liam Belcher, but no comeback as there was in the cup the previous week.
