North Hants May Cup Second Round
Tadley Calleva A never recovered from the opening twenty minute onslaught Twentyten inflicted on them in the Second Round of the North Hants May Cup when they conceded four goals and were eventually well beaten 10 -0. Ryan Lupton took advantage of a goalkeeping error to open the scoring and up came full back Carl Pearson to make it 2-0 and he then converted a penalty for the third. The other full back Jake Tanner added to the misery with the fourth and by the break Lucas Pickett added another. There was no let up in the second half against this weakened Tadley side as Joe Osborne with a 30 yard strike added another and Lupton netted his second to make it 7-0. Further goals came via Charlie Hill, Christian Cox and Osborne his second.
Division Two AFC Berg added AFC Aldermaston Reserves to their second Division One scalp when beating them 2-1 in a tight game, including a vital penalty save by Torren Kirrage. It was Matt Desay in the Aldermaston goal that stopped Berg taking the lead twice in the first half when Kieran Allleyne looked like scoring and then right on half time he was beaten. by a Peter Lomax header from a comer kick. Aldermaston came back to level in the 70th with a deflected shot from Lee Wheeler, but within five minutes Berg regained the lead when their captain Paul Crowe came up to head home another corner kick. The visitors had a great chance to force a penalty shootout when awarded a penalty when Michael Porter was brought down, but the spot kick taken by Wheeler was saved by Torren Kirridge.
Herriard Sports, who had just the bare eleven this week, won through to the Quarter Finals after beating Twentyten Reserves 4-2 at home and it was not easy against their Division Two opponents. They took the lead after 18 minutes when Jason Minton headed in a corner taken by Matt Goodman. They went two goals ahead in the 34th with a rout one clearance by keeper Keith Dickens and it led to Nick Saunders scoring. Twentyten always threatened, but it was Herriard the better finishers and in the 63rd they were caught out again from a set piece when Saunders netted from another Goodman corner. In the 75th it became 3-1 when Matt Osborne met the cross from Dan Hancock with a half volley, but they conceded a penalty in the 87th and Minton made to mistake from the spot. Twentyten did manage another gosl almost on full time when Osborne scored again, with Hancock again the provider.
Somesay met Basingstoke Athletic for the second week running and it was the same result except this time it ended 3-2, thanks to a 90th minute winner scored by Kane Wilson. Ryan Watts gave Athletic the lead in the 20th minute, a scrambled effort. Somesay drew level in the 40th when Luke Gore netted with a chip after a ball from Connor Stratton. It was always a very even contest and in the75th Jordon Russell pulled a good ball back for Stratton to give Somesay the lead. With five to go Paul Taylor made it 2-2, but in the final minute a low cross from Harry Chapman was met by Kane Wilson and his effort crept just inside the post to see Somesay through.
It is exit for Sherborne Saints who were beaten 5-1 by Kingsclere. After going a goal down, they came back to level when Liam Doran put Alex Izzo through and he finished well. The Andover League side came back strongly and were well on top by the break they led 5-1. Saints were unable to respond, although they did manage to keep their goal intact for the rest of the game.
North Hants Junior Saturday Cup
Origin Headley have not had a lot to celebrate this season, but they proved too good for AFC Aldermaston and went through to the Second Round of the North Hants Junior Saturday Cup with 9-4 win against AFC Aldermaston A. It was Johnny Gurney who scored four in the end, his first coming in the second minute that beat stand-in keeper Gary Bone. Jayce Torrie soon had Aldermaston on level terms but Tom Vincent and an og put Origin 3-1 in front. Anthony Gray pulled it back to 3-2, but by half time Jamie Perryman and Gurney had moved them 5-2 in front. Torrie and John Maylen did mange two more goals for the losers, but on the day Origin proved too strong and added further goals from Gurney, Vincent and Mark Bone.
Longdog Soldiers are also through to the next stage after knocking out CK Andover with a 7-2 away win.
The Andover League side only had nine men throughout and were five goals down before they replied. Mike Anigbo put Longdog in front in the 2nd minute and this was followed in the 17th when Sam Trodd put away a good ball from Terry Dingley.. A shot by Trodd was blocked and Nathan Bedford followed up to net and two quick strikes by Trodd completed his hat trick. CK scored their second in the 60th minute, but Trodd then netted his fourth and Max Trodd played through for Jake Pratchett to complete the rout.
The other North Hants |Junior Cup tie between Bounty United and Kings Somborne was postponed due to a protest in an earlier round, not involving Bounty has yet to be decided.
Basingstoke Saturday League.
There was just the one Basingstoke Saturday League match played and the 3-1 win Hook registered against Overton United A at Berrydown, means they have a six points lead over their nearest rivals Twentyten, who has a match in hand. After just ten minutes the Hook manager Humphrey Sims had to come on as substitute goalkeeper and regular keeper Greg Archer played a s full back. In the 21dt minute Sims was beaten when Overton went in front through???????. In the 31st Hook equalised when Tom Davies put away an assist from James Neville. It took Hook until the 66th minute to go ahead when James Westwood passed to Miles Craig, who set up Dan Mellors who netted with a 20 yard first time shot for the second and Hook sealed the points when Davies scored his second following a pass from Sam Wells to make sure of the points and remain unbeaten in the league..
