Bitterne Terriers had the best possible preparation for the coming under 9 season by winning the Colden Common 6-a-side tournament on Sunday 29th August.

Bitterne were drawn in a tough group and had to overcome some strong teams, especially Eastleigh Youth Whites (1-0 win) and Winchester Youth (1-1), to win Group B and progress into the final. Colden Common 'A' topped Group A on goal difference and were set to face Bitterne in a closely contested match. Colden Common took an early lead in the first half with Bitterne being opened up at the back. Bitterne hit back almost immediately with a goal from Owen Brooks and then took the lead before half time when Chay Jennings lobbed the keeper from 18 yards out. The second half saw Bitterne show how good they are defensively and saw off sustained pressure throughout the second half to hold onto a 2-1 victory. The final whistle came at the right time as Bitterne were looking tired after a long and hard fought tournament. Well done Bitterne it was a well deserved win in our first competitive competition!!
