CT66 F.C. Reseves lift the Division Two League Cup trophy after a convincing 3-0 victory over Dunmow Rhodes F.C.

Three goals in the first half an hour saw CT66 F.C. Reserves secure the Division Two League Cup, trophy (well they would have done if the Chairman had remembered the right trophy…..).

The two Clubs had ironically played each other a few days prior to the final in which CT66 registered a 7-2 victory to maintain their position at the top of the table, so went into this match as firm favourites.

CT66 dominated the first half and soon created chances. Reiss Spreight blazed over, but with ten minutes gone, the ball found its way to Matt Hubbard who lifted the ball over the Dunmow keeper to give the Canvey side the early advantage.

Dunmow worked hard to try and get back on level terms with Rees Cook having two efforts on goal blocked, one by his own player with the ball heading goal bound.

The 20th minute mark and CT66 double their lead. A Free kick on the halfway line found the head of skipper Jay Taylor who saw the ball nestle into the net.
10 minutes later and the game was effectively over as a contest. Dunmow gave the ball away in the middle of the park, CT66 broke quickly and allowed Matt Hubbard to net his second and CT66’s third.

The second half was more of an even contest, however the woodwork saved Dunmow from conceding further. Brad Patterson saw an effort hit the post, and this was soon followed by an effort from Harry Macal also hitting the upright.

On 58 minutes Dunmow thought they were given an opportunity. A free kick was headed home by Elliott Cockrell only to be denied by the offside flag.

Dunmow continued to drive forward and Simon Preece saw an effort well saved by Jordan Blackwall in the CT66 goal.

As the game wore on both Macal and Jordan Scott went close for CT66, but they ran out comfortable winners
