Harold Wood Athletic F.C. stunned league leaders Real Maldon by securing the Division Four League Cup with a goal in each half

The game was waiting for a spark to ignite this Cup Final but disappointingly for the small crowd that spark never came. This led to a subdued atmosphere throughout which seemed to relay itself to the players.

Harold Wood dominated the first half and took the lead after 15 minutes when Chris Edkins confidently slotted home from the edge of the box. Edkins had a chance in which to extend his sides lead two minutes later when he raced clear only to see his effort go agonisingly wide of the far post.

Real Maldon showed little in attack and struggled to create any opportunities of note despite being ably supported by a crowded dug out.......

Within minutes of the re-start Harold Wood had doubled their lead when Edkins struck again. The Harold Wood striker continued to be a threat in front of goal and had two further chances to grab a hat trick before he hobbled off before the end

Real Maldon's best and only chance came in the final minutes a goal at that point could have led to a grandstand finish but Been Goodchild blazed over. That was his last action in the game as he too hobbled off leaving the Maldon side to play the last few minutes with 10 men having used all of their substitutes
