Congratulations to JCB Juniors PJYL U14's Joe Dean Memorial League Cup Winners 2003 - 2004

PJYL U14's JOE DEAN MEMORIAL LEAGUE CUP FINAL MATCH REPORT.
DATE: 2nd MAY 04
KICK OFF: 3pm
VENUE: Kidsgrove Athletic

JCB Juniors retained the trophy they won last year in a tense thriller over the league champions Alsagers Bank Youth. Bank were unlucky not to take the lead in the first minutes of the game, Tom Evans bursting through the JCB defense only for his effort to find the post. Bank eventually took the lead, a cross from Mark Williams was met at the far post by Dave Cooper and his left foot strike gave Edward Jones in the JCB goal no chance. In a tight first half Jamie Lightfoot and Lee Wild in the Alsagers Bank defense kept a tight grip on JCB's free scoring striker Michael Clayton, and JCB's defense were in control of Alsagers Bank attacking duo of Tom Evans and Mark Williams.
Half Time 1-0.
The second half was pretty much the same story, however Alsagers Bank felt they had a perfectly good goal disallowed when man of the match Bobby Johnson floated a free kick over the JCB back line finding Mark Williams whose finish gave the JCB goalie no chance, only to see a flag from the lineman rule out the attempt for offside. JCB came close to leveling the score, Alvin Beardmore seeing his well struck free kick finding the post with Aaron Coates well beaten in the Alsagers Bank goal. Beardsmore's next attempt was an even better strike from just outside the area it looked goal bound before Aaron Coates pulled of the save of the game diving to his right. With minutes left on the clock and the league and cup double looking on the cards for Alsagers Bank, a ball lofted into the Alsagers Bank penalty area was some how dispatched by Micheal Clayton to draw JCB level and send their army of fans into ecstasy and the game into extra time. In the second period of extra time Clayton became JCB's hero of the day, his persistence lead to a moment's hesitation in the Bank back line and he managed to nick the ball into the Alsagers Bank net securing the trophy for JCB Juniors for the second year running.

Final Score: Alsagers Bank Youth 1 - 2 JCB Juniors (JCB won with an extra time golden goal)
