Cumberland FA Women's League

In preparation for the start of the 2017 Cumberland FA Women's League, teams were invited to a pre season festival on Monday 27 March at Penrith.

The 2017 entrants into the Women's League supported the curtain raiser for the new season, with 7 out of the 10 teams taking part in the kick about.

The festival, where no scores were taken was a chance for new and established players and teams to get their final preparations in before the league begins on wednesday 5 April.

The evening gave the newly crowned Cumbria Women's League Under 16 Champions Penrith AFC Diamonds their first taste of women's football and joined teams from the 2016 season in the relaxed festival.

Reigning Champions Crown Newlaithes FC, Islanders FC, Carlisle United FC Development, Penrith AFC Development, Keswick FC and Season LFC took the opportunity to prepare for the season opener getting some good game time in the 9v9 format.

The midweek league, with teams across Cumbria runs from April until September with plenty of playing opportunities for women (aged 16 and over) in all areas of the county. Barrow Celtic FC, Kendal Town FC Development and Whitehaven Miners Social FC will also begin their season next week in the 10 team league!
