Crown Newlaithes FC - League & Cup Champions 2016

Cumbria Women's League 2016, in partnership with Cumberland FA.

Carlisle based Crown Newlaithes FC finished 2016 as the Cumbria Women’s League Champions and also lifted the League Cup in late October completing a clean sweep!

For the second year Crown Newlaithes FC took the League title, however they were pushed to the wire by newcomers Islanders Ladies FC who finished just one point behind the newly crowned Champions.

The League Cup Final, organised and delivered by Cumberland FA was kindly hosted by Penrith AFC. Crown Newlaithes beat a determined Penrith AFC Development team, eventually winning 3-0.

The second season of the revamped Women’s League, a partnership with Cumberland FA enabled 7 local teams the chance to play football within Cumbria. Crown Newlaithes FC, Islanders Ladies FC, Penrith AFC Development, Yankees Ladies FC, Whitehaven Miners FC, Carlisle United Ladies FC Development and Keswick FC played weekly evening fixtures across the county.

Talks are underway with Cumberland FA to confirm the process for the 2017 season, which kicks off in March – more details out very soon!

Any new women’s teams interested in entering the 9 aside Cumbria wide league can contact CumbriaWomensLeagueSecretary@gmail.com for more details.

With teams entering from across the county, there will be a women’s team (aged 16 and over) in each area of Cumbria for ‘new’ and ‘old’ to be able to play!
Teams from Barrow, Carlisle, Keswick, Penrith, Whitehaven and Workington are able to offer women the chance to play football with league football from March to September.
