Development football is designed to create the best learning and fun experience for young players. To ensure an imbalance in ability does not spoil this, the FA approved ‘Power Play’ rules have been adopted by the YDYFL for the new season.

The York and District Youth Football League have introduced the FA Powerplay Rule for the 2021/22 season as per the FA Standard Code of Rules 20 (F) a copy of which can be found on the league website in the documents section for all league scheduled mini soccer fixtures.

5 v 5 - Under 7 and Under 8
7 v 7 - Under 9 and Under 10

As per the FA rules, the league does not publish results for any development fixtures but requires results to be reported to the league by both teams for development group grading for the future.

Please read the attached document for a detailed explanation on the FA Powerplay Rules and if you have any further questions, please contact U7 to U11 Age Group divisional secretary Brandon Bishop, email brandonjbishop@live.co.uk
