Windmill Claim First Division Cup

The first Cup Final of the season saw Windmill defeat Monkton 2-1 to lift the First Division Cup in what was a fantastic match.

It was Windmill that started the brighter of the two teams and they opened the scoring through Jamie Brown after twenty minutes, ten minutes later and the lead was doubled. Brown was upended in the box and up stepped Daniel Todd to tuck away the resulting penalty.

Monkton came back into the match in the lead up to the interval, but Windmill took a two-goal lead into the break.

Monkton continued on the front foot as the second half began and created some good chances but failed to score. Their hard work paid off with fifteen minutes remaining as Oli Frewin scored from close range to setup and frantic finish.
Windmill had chances to extend their lead whilst Monkton threw everything at their opponents in a bid to find an equaliser, but it was Windmill who saw the match out to claim the Cup.

Player of the Match was awarded to Windmill’s Jamie Brown.
