Rushton hits four for Hugin, Thomas hits a double for CTWS Cramptons and new boys Wheatsheaf enjoy a winning start – the story of Week 1 in the Thanet Sunday Football League.

A brace from Will Thomas helped TWS Cramptons to an opening day victory as the new season got underway, Joshua Belsey and Adam Turton also got on the scoresheet in the 4-2 win over Monkton, Matt Frewin and Luke Marsh replying for Monkton. A solitary goal from Andy Johnson was enough to give Saints all three points in their match against AFC Westgate USC whilst goals from Mac Durling & Josh Jackson earned defending Champions Kings United the win against Pro Parts United.

League newcomers The Wheatsheaf enjoyed a winning start to life in the League as they defeated Fury’s 2-0 in the First Division, Harrison Copley & Lewis Doyle getting the goals. Red Arrows beat The Hussar 2-1 thanks to a double from Harry Brooks, Woody Pitman getting the Hussar goal. Franklins drew 1-1 with 19th Hole, Frantisek Balog with the goal for Franklins and the points were shared between Hotel De Ville and Baypoint as they drew 2-2, James Day & Joshua Wood netting for De Ville whilst Jack Hearn scored both for Baypoint.

Four goals for Gareth Rushton as Hugin Vikings defeated FC Enoteca 5-2, Steve Ball getting the other goal with Sam Anderson & Gary Jones scoring for Enoteca. Warren Schulz & Callum Wilshaw scored one apiece for All About Asbestos as they beat Sandwich Town 2-1 for whom Shea Wood scored. One goal was enough for Lesters Athletic to beat Macies as Jamie Coot struck the all-important goal and there was just one goal in the match between St Lawrence Tavern and York Arms as Iain Boyd struck late on two secure the points for York.
