SUMMARY REPORT FOR 12th MAY 2012
SCPFL SUMMARY REPORT FOR 12th MAY 2012.
It was a day when the destination of all the remaining silverware was decided on Saturday as Allscott sealed the sportsjamkits.com First Division title with a 6-1 win at Brown Clee while Morda United won the Premier League Cup by repeating their 3-0 win against Ludlow Town from five weeks ago in the final played at the Sundorne Sports Village.
Oakengates Athletic had ended their interest in the First Division Championship in midweek when they lost 5-3 at home to Allscott meaning that the leaders just had to draw at Brown Clee to win the league from Weston Rhyn whose match at Shawbury was postponed. As it turned out, they won comfortably while Oakengates lost 2-1 at Prees, their second defeat in three days after a fifteen match winning run stretching back to mid January.
Morda Utd and Ludlow Town came into the Premier Division Final in similar form and level on points in the Premier League table. The first half was predictably tight with both teams largely cancelling each other out. Morda had the psychological edge of knowing they had already beaten their South Shropshire opponents three times this season including that 3-0 success at The SBS Stadium in early April and as half time approached they turned the game on its head when Dan Graham scored twice in three minutes. Firstly he stooped to head in a Gary Meredith cross and then he ran through a square back four to prod the ball past the onrushing Dave Cooper in the Ludlow goal. Despite the scoreline, Ludlow maintained a patient approach in the second half and almost pulled a goal back when a Morda defender crashed the ball against his own cross bar when under pressure from Dan Gower. This triggered an exciting period of the match as Gary Meredith hit the bar for Morda and Guy Guildford, following up, repeated the feat, striking the woodwork from a few yards out. Soon afterwards, with the game becoming stretched, Dan Graham had a chance for his hat-trick but was thwarted by Dave Cooper and Dan Gower failed from a similar situation against Morda's keeper, Sam Jones at the other end. Ludlow also struck the bar direct from a corner but by then time was running out and Gary Meredith put the gloss on the final score with a third goal that his all round performance had merited.

SCPFL SUMMARY REPORT FOR 28th APRIL 2012.

In the other match champions Newport drew 3-3 at Morda Utd after extra time in a thrilling encounter before succumbing 5-4 on penalties.

Steve Bathers, Jordan Gerrard, Ryan Leightwood and Mark Lunt had the game sewn up after an hour for Weston Rhyn at Bishops Castle Town for whom Lee Davies's penalty was scant consolation while Allscott were winning by the same score at Shawbury Utd Reserves.
