BARTON PEVERIL THROUGH TO QUARTER FINALS

Barton Peveril are through to the quarter-finals of the English Schools FA Under-18 Trophy for the first time in their history.
They clinched a last eight place – and a home tie with cup holders Farnborough on January 17 – with a dramatic 3-2 penalty shoot-out win over Exeter after the teams were level 2-2 at the end of extra-time.
Barton fell behind after 30 minutes, but levelled through a George Ockwell header on the hour mark.
“We could have put the game to bed after dominating the last 20 minutes of normal time, but the hard work was nearly undone a few minutes from time when Nathan Jones pulled of a great save to deny Exeter a late winner,” said BP coach Dan Jones.
Josh Carey gave Barton an extra-time lead, only for Exeter to equalise and take the fourth round tie to penalties.
BP won the shoot-out 3-2, with Jack Webb, George Ockwell and Josh Carey on target.
