District League Report April 23rd.

Linthwaite Athletic stay top of the Premier Division with a 7-1 win over relegated Britannia Sports and a 7-0 win over Holmbridge.

Doran Jordan hit a hattrick as Newsome thrashed AFC Lindley 7-1 with Darius Matheson, Jordan McCafferty-Smith (two) and Nathan Spencer completing the scoring for Newsome. Holmbridge are in third place following their narrow 3-2 win over Kirkheaton Rovers with goals from Jordan Saville, Sam Hellewell and Sam Pogson. Berry Brow remain in second place following their 9-0 demolition of Shepley with Kyle Walton hitting a hattrick.

Saddleworth United extended their lead to eight points at the top of Division 1 with 2 wins. Joel Longmore struck twice to earn the points in a 2-1 win over second placed Huddersfield Laund Hill with Jordan Jaber scoring for Laund Hill. Andrew Pheby also scored twice to earn the points in the 2-1 win over neighbours Moorside with Connor Grimsley scoring for Moorside. Diggle completed their fixtures dropping down to fifth place following their 2-1 defeat at Lepton Highlanders. Chris Johnson (three), Tom Lockwood (two) and Matthew Hall scored for Scissett in their 6-2 win over Honley. Jack Woods the League’s leading goal scorer made it 39 for the season with a brace for Skelmanthorpe in their 5-2 win over Kirkburton. Antoni Short, Jamie Allinson and James Manning completed the scoring for Shat.

Berry Brow Reserves are 3 points off Division 2 leaders AFC Volunteers following their 3-0 win at Wooldale Wanderers with goals from Liam Walton, Jamal Bent and Rhys Wharam. Dareece Siddique, Matthew Shaw and Ashley Hyde scored for Deighton Reserves in their 3-1 win over Brighouse Athletic. Zach Bissolati (two) and Gareth Brewins scored as Meltham Athletic beat Linthwaite Athletic Reserves 3-2 to move in to third place. Grange Moor Saints who have 8 more games to play beat Netherton Reserves 3-1 with goals from Kieron Mayall, Cameron Wilkey and Connor Steele.

In Division 3 Heywood Irish Centre secured an automatic promotion place in their last League game with goals from Conor Clarke and Adam Lyons in a 2-1 win over Hade Edge. Lewis Barden scoring for the Edge. Skelmanthorpe Reserves drooped points in their 1-1 draw with Slaithwaite United Reserves which meant they dropped down to third place.

The Division 4 title decider between Kirkheaton Rovers Reserves and Wooldale Wanderers Reserves didn’t materialise due to there being no appointed match referee. The League has however re-arranged the game to be played this week. Holme Valley Academicals moved off the bottom of the table with an emphatic 10-0 win over Linthwaite Athletic A with Matthew Webster (three), Richie Eales (three), Matthew Clee (two), Dyson Boocock and Owen Sutton.

Tyler Kershaw hit a hattrick for Fothergill and Whittles Reserves in their 7-2 win over Allerton with Jamie Howarth, Sam Holt, Elliot Keen and Josh Crook completing the scoring. Umais Khan and Mohammed Ibrhim scoring for Allerton who stay in the hunt for the Division 5 title. Allerton play Division 5 leaders Deighton A this Saturday. Tre-Duke Alexander scored for Almondbury Woolpack Reserves in their 3-1 defeat to Skelmanthorpe A.

In the Richardson Cup semi final Honley Reserves beat Mount Reserves 5-0 with goals from Michael Roebuck (two), Callum Greenwood(two) and Tom Booth.
