District League Report October 5th

Linthwaite Athletic top the Premier Division on goal difference following their hard fought 1-0 win over Deighton with Keelan Gorski scoring the goal.

Michael Calvert scored four as Netherton beat Diggle 6-1. Jack Taylor and Ryan Burchael completed the scoring for Netherton and Sam Bagshaw scoring for Diggle. Moorside beat Newsome 4-1 with goals from Jordan Delves, Jason Evans, Joe Fagan and Liam Maher with Dwayne Wilkinson scoring from Newsome. Sam Pogson and Billy Fisher scored for Holmbridge in their 2-1 win over Shepley with Kieran Aberdour scoring for Shepley.

Grange Moor Saints top Division 1 following their thumping 9-0 win over Holme Valley Academicals with Kieron Mayall hitting a hattrick for the Saints. Seth Quesne (two), Harry James, Connor Steele (two) and Cameron Wilkey completed the scoring. Kirkburton recorded their first win of the season with goals from Sam Ellis, Luke Hanson and Oliver Pattinson in a 3-1 win over Linthwaite Athletic Reserves. Chris Blakely scoring for Linfit. Chris Parker hit four as Cumberworth comfortably beat Wooldale Wanderers 7-1. Cumberworth’s other goals were scored by Matty Hainsworth (two) and Elliott Stevenson. Ryan Smith scoring the consolation for Wooldale.

Josh Fowler and Lewis Elsy scored for Holmbridge Reserves as they went top of Division 2 following their 2-1 win over neighbours Hade Edge with Andrew Daisey scoring for Hade Edge. Anbua Kator, Joey Singh and Nikita Cholopovas scored as Berry Brow A beat Huddersfield Laund Hill 3-0. Taylor McLachlan-Wilson, Daniel Tindall and Henry Blackburn scored as Meltham Athletic Reserves lost 5-3 to Netherton Reserves. Alfie Perry, Miles Kingston, Luke Taylor, Joe Gardener and Ben Balmforth scoring for Netherton.

In Division 3 Mount won their first game of the season beating Berry Brow B 3-2 with goals from Sam Dawson (two) and George Bentley. Ohireme Remison scored both for Berry Brow. Skelmanthorpe Reserves just beat Kirkheaton Rovers Reserves to go four points clear at the top with goals from Jack Haigh and Blake Jackson in a 2-1 win. Cavan Joyce-Smith scoring for Kirkheaton. Ryan Patterson scored five as Slaithwaite United beat Cumberworth Reserves 9-3 with Greg Bower and Jamie Edwards both scoring twice. Linthwaite Athletic A beat Wooldale Wanderers 2-0 with goals from Lewis king and Kieran Fowler.

Deighton A stay top of Division 4 following their 9-3 win over Almondbury Woolpack Reserves with goals from Kobi Grant (three), Tyrell Omelia (two), Hasson Said (two), Andrew Fleming and Alan Nichols. Courtney Alert (two) and Tre-Duke Alexander scoring for the Woolpack. Jaron Edwards and Julien Walker scored for Grange Moor Saints reserves in their 2-1 win over Brook Motors with Richard Denton scoring for Brooks. Netherton A beat Scissett Reserves 3-2 with goals from Curtis Stennett (two) and Brandon Webster. Travis Fisher and Samuel Grimes scoring for Scissett. Simon Bushe-Bostock (two), Alex Clegg and Luke Garner scored for St Columba’s Reserves in their 4-1 win over Diggle Reserves with Jayden Ryan scoring for Diggle.
Hade Edge Development stay in second place in Division 5 despite losing 7-4 to Fenton United. Dan Baker scored all four for Hade Edge and Antonio Ferra (three), Zain Sarfraz, Mahmood Awad, Shamas Imtiaz and Kashif Amin scoring for Fenton. Macauley-Leo Smith-Wike scored the only goal of the match as Britannia Sports A beat Cumberworth A. Jack Lewis and Daniel Armitage scored for Fothergill & Whittles in their 2-2 draw with Cartworth Moor whose goals were scored by Jonathan Bott and Zack Ward. Mount Pleasant beat Mount Reserves 2-0 with goals from Abdullah Zubair Hafeji and Muhammed Patel.

In the West Riding Challenge Cup Berry Brow comfortably beat West Yorkshire League’s Aberford Albion 8-1. Britannia Sports hosted Gargrave FC from the Craven & Skipton League and lost 4-1. Kirkheaton Rovers beat West Yorkshire League side Rawdon Old Boys 3-2. In an all-Yorkshire Amateur League tie Newsome First team travelled to South Leeds and were beaten 7-0.

In the West Riding Challenge Trophy Berry Brow Reserves were knocked out losing 4-3 on penalties after drawing 1-1 with Ryburn United Reserves from the Yorkshire Amateur League. Allerton beat Halifax based Hebden Bridge Saints, 4-1. AFC Lindley beat Bradford United, 3-1. Britannia Sports Reserves hosted TCC FC and lost 3-2. Deighton Reserves lost 2-1 to Dewsbury Moor from the Yorkshire Amateur League. East Bowling beat Halifax District League side Calder 76, 3-1 and Greetland Reserves from the Yorkshire Amateur League thumped Brighouse Athletic 6-1.

Ritchie Evans, Reece Julien and Anthony Thompson scored for Heywood Irish Centre in their 3-2 win over Carlton Sports. Jonny Morgan scored twice as Meltham Athletic drew 2-2 with Collegian Reserves with Meltham winning 3-1 on penalties. West Yorkshire Flexi-Play League side North United FC beat AFC Volunteers 4-3. Oliver Alexander, Harrison Peckover and Michael Feterlich scoring for the Vols. Honley Reserves travelled to Shelf Juniors and won 4-1 with goals from Huey Burchill, Connor Blackmore (two) and Michael Roebuck.
