League accredited with CS award

Southern Region WFL is pleased to announce that it has attained Charter Standard League status with effect from 23rd October 2015. This award means that in the South area all leagues within the Winter Pyramid of Football are Charter Standard which is great news for women’s football in the area.

The award required the league to demonstrate they are raising standards, championing club development, and addressing poor behaviour within the league, and to support its member clubs seeking Charter Standard Club status. Southern Region is pleased that 100% of all its member clubs are now Charter Standard accredited.

The benefits of the award are clear – the League will have a clear development plan in place, together with an agreed support package with their partner County FA which for Southern Region has been the Berks & Bucks FA. The League also had to demonstrate that they are committed to the Respect programme and have procedures in place to improve standards and address poor behaviour in the game. The League operates a Sportsmanship award which encourages teams to mark each other’s behaviours and these are reviewed regularly to ensure a quality football experience for all. It also requires teams to observe a Respect handshake before each match and to observe the Respect codes of conduct at all times.

League Chairman Thura KT Win said “I am delighted that the League has achieved Charter Standard especially at such an exciting time for the female game. The award is the result of the hard work of all the volunteers within our Committee, and the commitment of our partners at the Berks & Bucks FA, in particular Lisa Welling, who has personally worked with us to gain this accreditation this season. My thanks go to everyone involved.”
