League action...

In a good Premier Division game contested by two good sides, Billet took the lead midway in the first-half courtesy of Ross Gormer. Broadhall had a few chances to level and it took for a fantastic last minute Jason Milburn free-kick into the top corner to make it 1-1.

King Pin United played some neat football against battling opposition and took the lead through a Craig Reynolds lob. He went on to score another, before sealing his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Carl Lingwood chipped in with two more and James Wyatt and Chris Winder also netting to wrap up a 7-1 victory over St Nicholas.

Division One sides and long-standing rivals AJS Tyres Broadhall and Bedwell Rangers squared up again, just as they have every year since joining the league. Bedwell had the best early chance when Luke Smith looked to have scored, only for AJS ‘keeper Perry Thompson to pull off a magnificent save. AJS took the lead just after the half hour as good work by Michael Carter found Andy Lee, whose excellent cross was driven in by Matt Jackson. The equaliser came five minutes from half-time as Smith's free-kick found out a defective wall as he cheekily side footed the ball round it and into the bottom corner. The second-half started in similar vein and then came a pivotal couple of minutes. Andy Lee was in a good position near the Bedwell area only to be fouled. To their amazement, the referee awarded the kick to the defending side, from the resulting kick, ‘keeper Aaron Austin launched the ball forward, it evaded everyone and somehow ended up in the net for a freak goal. However, within two minutes, AJS were awarded a free-kick and Joe Lee was on hand to head in Jackson's cross. Bedwell scored what was to be the winning goal at the three quarter mark in the game with a Smith header from a long Ross Murphy throw-in for his fifteenth of the season. AJS were close to levelling, Phil Stevens' header hit the post, but the victors are up to second.

Coach and Horses started very slow and on a rare occasion that Breachwood Lions had two of their proven goal scorers in the same starting line up in Richard Taaffe and Ali Collins, they forced a two goal lead after fifteen minutes with each of them on target. However, Coach then put James Mason under pressure, causing his clearance to find the wrong side of the post and an own goal. This woke them up and Scott Ross scored the equaliser. Lions were back in front through Collins from the penalty spot to lead 3-2, the same score they beat Coach last month. However, two goals before half-time and three more after gave Coach a stunning 7-3 victory as Lions were unable to find the right gear to get back into the game and develop any sustained pressure. The further goals came from David Stevens (two), Lewis Littlechild, Ade Wright and Aaron Bottazzi as they leap-frogged their victims into fifth place on goal difference.

Crooked Billet Boro built on last week’s excellent, although now academic point against Pin Green by hammering eight without reply past Benington in their Division Two meeting. Collins Nwanazia hit another hat-trick to take him to twelve goals for the season. Ben Snowden (two), Adam Buckingham, Steve Bush and Dan Thurgood were also on target.

The unbeaten top two in Division Three met in a cracking match. Proverbial United were looking to use the channels to utilise the pace of Dave Pateman and new signing Jamie Campany. Pateman was fouled and Sam Stephenson rattled the crossbar from the resulting free-kick. They continued to push and Campany beat the offside trap from a chipped pass from Josh Stock to slot past the advancing ‘keeper for 1-0. Broadhall Athletic upped their game and forced a corner, which led to an unmarked Gary Hillard running into the box to head them level. Proverbial then exposed a nervous looking defence as within five minutes, they hit the bar through Pateman before a cross from Stock was delivered to Campany to volley home. Stock then fed Campany, who unselfishly squared the ball for Pateman to side foot into an empty net for his thirteenth goal of the season and a 3-1 lead at the break. Broadhall couldn’t get into their stride, but against the run of play, Hillard clinically finished his tenth of the season following superb work from Craig Gilbert and then Reece Ratcliffe netted from the spot for 3-3. The ball was then easily surrendered ball in midfield and Proverbial raced through to score the goal of the game when Campany finished high into the net for his hat-trick with only two minutes left. There was to be a final, dramatic twist, Broadhall's never-say-die attitude saw Garry Smith bundle the ball into the net following a corner for 4-4 to maintain their four point lead.

The opening twenty minutes saw Almond Tree La Coruna control the game, but they couldn’t finish. This cost them as A1 Trophies counter attacked to score with a low drilled shot by Dean Dolby that Scott Taylor let slip past him at his front post. Again, the Tree came back with chances, notably Bill Flavell hit the post with a flying header just before the break. Simon Longman doubled the lead with a two-on-one break as they moved into fourth.

TC Wanderers took the lead through hotshot Michael Phelan, before ABC Taxis equalised shortly afterwards. Leeroy Odd restored the lead, but again, ABC hit back through a deflected shot. Odd then picked up the ball on the halfway line, beat two men before slotting past the ‘keeper to give TC a third lead. But once again, ABC levelled, this time with thirty seconds to go to make it 3-3. Carl Simmonds (two) and Matt O’Brien were the players who equalised.
