League action...

In the Premier Division, King Pin United heaped more woe on Dun Cow, who lost for their third successive week. Cow eventually mustered eleven to kick off the game and it was a tight and competitive match with both teams getting stuck in and creating chances. The Pin had more of the game in the first-half, the Cow after it. King Pin broke the deadlock through a John Godfrey tap-in after good work from Bradley Vooght down the wing to take the game 1-0.
Division One leaders MBDA went a step closer to clinching the title with a comfortable win over Coach & Horses. Only one-up at half-time against ten men, they tore into eleven men after the break to win 8-0. Ross Walker (hat-trick), Ashley Kersey (two), Sam Harwood, Kyle Watson and a terrific strike from Si George saw them home.
Chequers drew 0-0 for the second successive week, this time against MKS Carpentry.
Callum Rowe’s deflected last minute strike from twenty-five yards won the points for Old Barclavians as they consolidated second place in Division Two. Dave Warwick and Josh Watson were earlier on target in the 3-2 win over Benington, who replied through Ryan Palmer and Richard Veness.
In an action packed game, it took less than five minutes for the first goal when Craig Braine latched onto a great Lewis Osborne pass to slot home for JML Plumbing & Heating. Opponents Crooked Billet Boro looked dangerous on the break and levelled after twenty minutes through Tom Younger. Osborne then restored the lead after some great build up play and despite a great chance for Billet, it was 3-1 moments after the break when Chris Benton sprayed a pass from inside his own area, from which Tom Gallagher turned the defenders and stuck home a sweetly struck half-volley. JML then took the game by the scruff of the neck and dominated possession. Callum Russell’s long ball took a deflection which took it past the helpless Billet ‘keeper for four before Osborne added his second as the game finished 5-1 and put JML into the promotion reckoning.
Also 3-2 winners were Roebuck Gate. Dean Auburn (two) and Richard Pomroy were on target, whilst Hartham Press responded through Graeme Hulstrom and Andy Hall.
View Point Wanderers missed out on the chance to go top of Division Three. They played the first twenty minutes with ten men, but still took the lead when a long clearance by ‘keeper Lee Hollingsworth cleared the TC Wanderers defence and Charley Blackham raced on to fire home past Danny Court under pressure from two defenders. A combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept it at 1-0 at half-time. TC were a much better side in the second-half and forced Hollingsworth into an excellent save from Tony Friggieri and also saw Pete Bannister clear the ball off the line. Finally, TC levelled when a shot from the edge of the penalty area came back off the post and fell kindly for Friggieri, who smashed the ball home. Wanderers looked set to snatch all three points when they were awarded a penalty with two minutes left, but Friggieri’s well struck kick thumped against the post and it finished 1-1.
A1 Trophies are up to third despite ABC Taxis starting the better side, carving out a number of opportunities, which were comfortably handled by Chris Essam in the A1 goal. Against the run of play in the twentieth minute, Tallem Dennis received the ball in the middle of the park and slipped a through ball to Toby Willis who calmly took the ball round the ‘keeper and slotted home for A1. ABC continued to take control in the middle of the park and levelled through Adam Payne, who lashed home from just outside the area. With half-time approaching, A1 restored the lead in fortuitous circumstances when a defender back-heeled the ball home following a corner. Si Longman then drilled a ball across the box from wide left, and in trying to clear the ball, a helpless defender could only direct the ball into his own net for a second own goal. On the hour, after another slick attack, Dennis was provider again, as he slipped through Mark Barmby, who rounded the ‘keeper to net. Dennis then finished the game as a contest when he neatly converted himself. ABC did manage to pull one back from the spot through Jeff Slingsby to make it 5-2, after an infringement by debutant Neil Holden.
A mid-table clash often has nothing on it, but no-one told Almond Tree La Coruna and Brackas, who produced a three-three-thriller. In a game of two halves, Tree started stronger and the deadlock was broken when a cross was cleared to Rhys Flavell, who danced past two players on the edge of the box and curled the ball past the ‘keeper into the top corner for a cracking goal. They should’ve doubled their lead when Steven Moss whipped in a free-kick that Stephen Clibbon put over from six yards, unmarked. They did go two up though when Bill Flavell played in Dave Thomas, who scored with a stunning, dipping volley. A Bill Flavell corner then saw Dan Webb grabbed a much deserved goal with a bullet header for 3-0. Game over? Brackas decided to wake up and two almost identical goals came from goalkeeper kicks over the defence and Theo Griffith running on to finish past Scott Taylor. Their comeback was complete when the ball pinged around the box and ended up at Alex Nagy’s feet, who smashed the ball home to draw the scores level.
