Washout... A joint-decision was made on Saturday afternoon between the Council and the Committee to postpone the Sunday programme due to waterlogged pitches, writes Darren “Statto” Jones (statto@cssfl.info).

Whilst we hope for drier weather so as the puddles disappear, we have a chance for a little catch-up on events.

As already reported, the Premier Division is now down to just six teams, from the nine that entered the Constitution. They will meet eachother three times now, so they’re not quite halfway yet and Olympic Nirankari lead the way as the only unbeaten side after their four games. However, Dun Cow are the sole survivors in the Herts Senior Cup and received a bye to reach the last 16 and a home tie in a couple of weeks against St Albans outfit AFC Rangers or Hemel United.

Division One sees one of last season’s relegated sides cruising at the moment. MBDA have won all eight games in their first season at this level, after being elevated into the top flight two years ago on the back of finishing runners-up in Division Two. They’re the only side definitely through to the last 32 of the Herts Intermediate Cup and will travel to St Albans on Sunday week to face Black Berry Jack in a competition in which they reached the last four in 2009/10. Since their rise through the divisions with their predominantly young side, Bedwell Rangers have lost just the once in their eight games, and sit second. The defeat came against Lifestyles, who were also relegated last season and they lay third, also having only suffered one defeat. Coopers United await their first league win, but performances and spirit suggest it won’t be long.

Division Two was hit with the shock news last week that unbeaten leaders Pin Green had folded, meaning Broadhall Icon hit top spot by default, just as they had a year ago in their promotion season when Old Barclavians had points deducted. They’ve won five and lost two. Barclavians themselves are just a point back, having lost just once. Hartham Press await their first win, however, they’re still in the Herts Intermediate Cup, as are JML Plumbing & Heating, both attempt to make the last 32 this weekend.

There are three sides unbeaten in Division Three, although View Point Wanderers have drawn as many (three) as they’ve won. They trail Proverbial United by two as Broadhall Athletic lead the way on eighteen points from eight games. Stevenage Old Town have dragged themselves off the floor to keep the club running, great credit to them for that, they still look for their first point. Proverbial and Almond Tree La Coruna attempt to reach the Herts Junior Cup last 16 this week.

There is a Meeting at The Pear Tree on Monday 10th December at 8pm, which all Clubs must attend.

Finally, we urge you to keep a regular eye on the website and its links: www.cssfl.info.
