January & February Respect Tables 2015-16

Spartan South Midlands Football League Respect Programme
Report January/February 2016 by Bob Flight

Due to the large number of postphoned matches in the early part of 2016, this Respect Report and Respect Tables includes all League games played in both January and February.

A good period for the Respect programme with a number of clubs improving their Respect records. Dissent incidents (C2) fell for the third period in succession over those of the same period last season by 0.90% (1.0% last month) maintaining the improvement since November. Sending off of fences fell by an encouraging 13%, which was a huge improvement over December. Bench incidents continue to fall over those of the same period last season and this periods fall is an impressive 60%
(35.5% last period). Well done to all clubs.

Premier Division
There was a drop in clubs, 50% (54.5% last period) in the good green section of the Respect table which has seen a corresponding increase of clubs in the brown must improve section. Those clubs in the red unacceptable section have grown to five clubs, although Hertford Town have shown some welcome improvement.

Division 1
A much better month for this division with an increased 65% (60% last month) of clubs now in the good green section of the Respect table. This has shown a reduction of clubs in the brown section to 10% (25% last month). However, the red section has shown an increase to 25% (15% last period) although the previous bottom club New Bradwell St. Peter, have greatly improved their Respect record during the period. Crawly Green continued with their excellent Respect performances

Division 2
A steady period for this division with little really to mention apart from the slide down the table by Clean Slate and a welcome improvement from Pitstone & Ivinghoe who, although still remain bottom, have better figures

Reserve Sections
Improved performances in both sections although two clubs folded their reserve teams during the period.

Areas of Concern
There have been several reports, some via letters to the League, of clubs not controlling the behavior of their players & supporters which has led to some unsavory incidents. Whilst these transgressions are dealt with by the respective County FAs, the League will hold guilty clubs to account to protect the good name and integrity of the Spartan South Midlands Football League.

Another area of concern is that some home clubs are not offering the required level of hospitality to visiting clubs and match officials. This is discourteous and unacceptable and guilty clubs will be fined by the League accordingly, rule 41 applies.

Respect Award
Once again Hereward Sports are sponsoring the monthly Respect Awards of £100 worth of sporting clothing, this excludes any postage costs. There are two awards for this period and the first goes to Crawly Green for their continuing outstanding Respect performances. The second goes to Harefield United who gained no Respect penalty points during the two month period and as a consequence have risen up to 2nd in the division’s Respect table from 9th last period. Congratulations to both clubs.
