CHAMPIONS CHARITY SHIELD
The Annual Champions Charity Shield match took place on Thursday 29th. March at Raunds Town FC with all proceeds going to the N.F.A. Swain Benevolent Fund. The game is between the Champions of the Northants Combination and the Northampton Town League, but unfortunately the Town League reigning champions University of Northampton could not field a team and were replaced by Northampton Harlequins who played against Corby Hellenic Fisher. The Combination Champions, Hellenic took the lead and held it for most of the game but Charlie Flemming's boys never gave up and James Allcock hit an 85th minute equaliser to take the match to a penalty shoot out. With Harlequins veteran goalkeeper Dave Smith bringing off some super saves the Town League team won the shoot out 4-2 to take the Trophy.
