HMS HERON wins the 1st USFL trophy of season The League Cup beating EDF Apprentices 2 nil

In front of a big EDF crowd and the USFL VIP Cdr R Bird RN, EDF started electrifyingly controlling midfield and pushing Heron back, but despite this they were unable to get Heron’s keeper airborne with man of the match AET Glendon standing out as a stalwart in the heart of heron’s defence keeping EDF attack at bay. After 15 minutes Heron players began to find their wings and string passes together, but EDF’s defence was well organised and the game could go either way.

But then with less than 10 minutes to half time Heron made a good break down the left and the ball fell to AET Willetts inside the box who hit a well stuck shot which flew into the top corner giving EDFs keeper no chance.

Half time HMS HERON 1 – 0 EDF Apprentices

After the break it was EDF who turned on the electric creating 2 quick chances which on another night might have been scored, but Heron held strong and weathered the storm. The game settled with neither side creating any chances and strong defence form both teams meaning neither keeper was tested. But on the hour Heron scored their 2nd with a fine strike again giving EDF’s keeper no chance to plug the gap, 2 nil to Heron.

As expected EDF switched on the juice and pushed for that elusive goal, but Heron’s defence held strong with AET Glendon dominate in and around their box and EDF were unable to break through.

Final score HMS HERON 2 – 0 EDF Apprentices

Man of the Match HMS Heron’s no 4 AET Glendon a dominant performance at the heart of Heron’s defence.
