SHEPHERD’S ARMS STRIKER, JOE WALTON, WHO SCORED ALL FOUR GOALS IN HIS SIDES 4-1 WIN OVER LEEDS CITY ROVERS FC IN THE WEST RIDING FA SUNDAY CUP.

STRIKER JOE WALTON STOLE THE SHOW WITH A FOUR GOALS HAUL AGAINST “LEEDS CITY ROVERS FC" IN THE FINAL OF THE TWO UNBEATEN SIDES IN THEIR RESPECTIVE LEAGUES.

Shepherd’s Arms FC, who play the “Wakefield & District Sunday Football League” beat Leeds City Rovers FC, from the “Wharfedale Triangle League” 4-1 to lift the West Riding FA Sunday Cup at Fleet Lane, Woodlesford last Friday in front of a huge crowd.

Both these Premiership One sides boasted of a 100% record in their respective league’s and cup competition’s before locking horns in this final, equivalent to the FA Cup in amateur Sunday football.

In a very competitive game, it was Leeds City Rovers who took the lead five minutes from half time following a counter-attack and a cool lobbed finish. Shepherd’s Arms hauled themselves level with a headed goal from Joe Walton following a right-flank corner in injury time just seconds before the break.

Early in the second-half, Joe Walton was proving difficult to handle and he went on to score two quick-fire goals in a ten minute spell to make it 3-1. Leeds City Rovers reshuffled their line-up with the introduction of pacey attacking players and forced the Horbury-based outfit to work overtime to repel any change of fortunes for their opponents.

Shepherd’s Arms weathered the storm and saw their talisman, Joe Walton, strike again with a low drive across the goalkeeper for his four goals haul in this prestigious final to secure the West Riding FA Sunday Cup for the first time in their 18 year history.

A PROUD MOMENT FOR THE “SHEPHERD’S ARMS FC” & THE “WAKEFIELD & DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE”. BRAVO & WELL DONE.
